My observations from the year and yesterdays game will not be sugar coated. For all you guys throwing darts at players, coachs, and the season, simmer down a bit. This season is a marathon, not a 100 yard dash.

#1. Observation - Our running game was hitting its stride yesterday, without SJ. Thats a big plus.

#2. When the running games going, that means the Offensive line is playing well. Plus.

#3. Matt Ryan is unstoppable, most of the time. He is elite. HUGE plus.

#4. Holmes looks good on the Left. Plus.

#5. The offensive line is only going to get better. Matt Ryan got hit once yesterday. Plus

#6. Roddy white is going to come around and Douglas looks good. Down the stretch, big plus.

#7. Tony G. is not playing well, looks alittle slow. Might just need more game time. Negative

#8. Tioloi(sp?) is getting involved. Plus.

#9. Dline was penetrating and Peria looks like a force. Osi is really an upgrade. Plus.

#10. Worrilow and Joplo are good players. Great depth and maybe starters. Plus.

#11. Dent is a non factor and needs to be replaced. Negative.

#12. Decoud is a liability on most everything right now. Negative.

#13. Moore is an All pro and a big thought in other teams Psych. Plus.

#14. Our young rookie corners look very good this early. Trufant will be an elite player. Plus.

We are gonna get, SJ, Baker, Witherspoon and a healthy Roddy back for a long playoff run.

Coach Smith will not kick field goals on 4th and 1. You have to attack on the road. This team is gelling and Ryan and Julio are top elite talents. We have alot of young guys playing right now and we have lost 2 games in the last minutes of the games. San Fran has been roled twice, badly and Housten got shalacked yesterday. Loss's occur, but how you lose is Very important as well. We could easily be 3-0. This game is decided by inches and we will win far more then we lose with the cast of characters on board and our Management. RELAX. Everything is going to be OK.

most are not trying to hear it, we are three games in with a rather young team atm because of injuries and other things. they are learning and will learn what it takes to pull out close games as the season goes on and we have a chance to be playing our best football late instead of early, if we can just sneak out a few games till the bye.

How many games will we lose because of blown leads before we see the "fine" part you are talking about?

Well, last year we won 13 games then a playoff game, and every team in the playoffs surged throughout their games and came from behind with big deficits. It happens. These are great teams and the Fact that we were 7 yards away from a superbowl and given the fact that Interference should have been called on that last play to Roddy, then we really should have been in the superbowl. The Falcons have been very Good the last 5 years. Not many teams can say that with the winning % to back it up. Look at San Fran. They've been sand blasted 2 weeks in a row and everyone thought they WERE DA TEAM. The Falcons will adjust. Nolans a great coach we just have some pieces Jelling right now.

So, due to injuries and retirement, the Falcons had 4 different players on the Oline from game 16 last year, one of whom, in his 3rd start ever, switched from RT to LT. There's a reason Smith and Ryan don't trust this Oline yet.

Same with the D- between injuries and cuts, had several youngsters playing vital roles- they made some mistakes. Let Mass, Goodman, Bartu, Worliow, Alford and Trufant get some more experience and this D will be really good.

Of course the loss hurts, but give the youngsters time to learn and the injured time to heal and this team will be the one we thought it was going into the season.

Few odds and ends- 26 of Ryan's 32 TD passes last year were red zone passes. Once the Oline gives him just a little more protection and White, SJax & Baker are healthy, the red zone woes should disappear.

Only 5 teams have a winning record in the NFC- Falcons haven't put themselves in a huge hole.

At least the Falcons aren't the Giants or the Bucs.

GB and SF are also 1-2.

Right on points. This team is young, but still VERY competitive and could be 3-0. We will get our starters on the field later and the young guys are learning and gaining valuable experience.

I agree with everything you say, but you neglect to mention why we lose with all this good stuff going on. Its coaching plain and simple, we were out coached and our head coach's need to play it safe is what beat us in the end just like it has many times before. I will also add in horrific clock management, pop warner clock management.

I'd agree. Smith blew the clock management at the end of the game. I really think he thought we'd hold them to a field goal and then give Matt 3 time outs. That long gainer to the 1 broke that Thought. It was a gamble. Sometimes that'll pay off, sometimes, like yesterday, it didn't. The 4th and 1's on the road, bad calls.

Good lord, you all think this is bad. Just wait until we have the first blowout in our favor this year. When we actually step on a team's throat. The boards will be unreadable. The homerism will blind you from every thread. The "I told you so's" and "Where are yall at now's" will make you want to puke. False sense of security will be at an all time high.

The bad call started at the end of the 2nd qtr on the 2 yd line.... we had a chance to work the clock better ,go for it on 4th and half a yd and go into half time with a demoralised Fins team down 10 points and

momentum clearly in our favor. This is where Smitty fails, if we worked the clock properly the worst that could happen is we turn the ball over on the fins 2 yd line up 6 with no time left for them to score. Smith takes the safe way out (in his mind) but what he does is leaves time for Miami to march down the field and score...A horrible decision, horrible. Now we have given them the momentum coming out for the 2nd half plus they get the ball. Smitty steps on our throat by doing that, we don' have a defense that can protect 3 pt leads, so had Osi not

stripped the ball out that first series in the 2nd half I believe we would have been blown out.As it was we lose because of over cautious Smitty ball, I'm just tired of it that's all, don't hate the man personally but he cant coach in pressure situations, that's a fact.

Especially if it's next week.

But people who have given up on the season and this team already really don't understand how long a season it is.
