So wait, we move Reynolds to LG, and start a 4th round rookie at RG? No matter how much you like that guy, you have to know that isn't happening. Also, Babs and Hawley are both in contract years, but you don't have Hawley listed as being resigned or Babs listed as being released.

Oh, and just noticed that you have us resigning Mike Johnson, but don't have him on your depth chart at all.

Blalock's cap hit if cut is only 4.4 million, what you are seeing is his cap number if he was on the team. He only has 16 million in guarantee money.

It saves us 3 mill next year.

He may only have 16 million guaranteed however he has been given a ton of bonus money(signing, roster and restructure) that would all be due on the cap should we cut him. Cap wise we would save next to nothing cutting him.

So help with this, Clabo has about the same $ per year and when you compare the years to guarantee $ it is about the same. Clabo was cut this and only cost us 4.5 mill and you think Blalock who I am cutting next year will be 7+ mill? Something is not adding up.

Blalock 6 years $36 mill $16 mill guarantee - cut in his 4th year of the contract (I'm saying 4.4)

Clabo 5 years $25 mill $11 guarantee - cut in his 3rd year of the contract (cap hit 1.5)

Duante Robinson 6 years $57 mill 25.5 mill guarantee -cut in 4th year of his contract (cap hit 3)

Ray Edwards 5 years 30 mill $11 mill guarantee - cut in his 2nd year of contract (cap hit 4.6)

Comes down to bonus money and when we cut him. We have paid Blalock 16ish million in bonus money, of which only 8.5ish million has counted against our cap meaning we have to face that 7.5ish million cap hit at some point. We could cut him post June 1, ala Clabo, and probably save some on the cap next year but would have to take a pretty big hit the following year, again a la Clabo(he has a 3.1 million cap hit in 2014 so it really cost 4.6 million on the cap to cut him).

I'm not a fan of Blalocks contract but I also don't think it is so bad that I want to take a 7 million cap hit over 2014/15 to cut him.

You don't want to take a 7 mill cap hit in the next two years but you willing to take almost 16 mill over the same time frame for not cutting him? How does that make sense?

I'd rather he take a 7 million cap hit in 2014 to play for us than a 7 million dead cap hit over 2014/2015 for him to not play for us.

Depending on his play probably cut him, it would only be a 4 million dead cap hit then.

So...how is that any different than what I am mocking in 2014?

In 2014 Blalock will have the third highest cap amongst guard, is he even a top ten guard? With the new CBA, we can draft a guard and his entire contract for the next 4-5 years would be less than what Blalock is making next year.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

Because by cutting him we will be paying him like a top guard to not play for us. Sure he isn't great but he isn't so bad that I want to face that kind of dead cap money for him to play for someone else.

Sure we can draft a guard in the later rounds for a much cheaper contract but I highly doubt that guard will be as good as Blalock. Blalock isn't great but he is solid and very dependable.

To save next to no money we would be taking what is likely a big downgrade in guard play, I just don't see the point.

Just curious if your view has change any since watch the preseason games. Still think Blalock is worth almost 8 mill?

TD got Dimitroffed by Blalock Pre-2012 season with that contract!!

I was really hoping TD was going to draft a good G (or college T convert) for us last April... and last year too for that matter. *Konz sufficed for the last season.

Our G play is just not acceptable IMHO... of course I felt same way about our C play much of last two seasons also. We can already see how Konz is upgrading that spot this year!!

I want us to FIX the OL before 2014 season. Period.
