Last Year That Each Nfl Team Drafted A Qb In 1St Round

Its a great graphic, Ray.

Bum didn't value QB's, Mora got QB's from the USFL/Cowboys/Rams, Ditka didn't value QB's, Haslett cast his lot with Brooks, and Payton pulled the trigger on the greatest free agent signing in NFL history.

PS. If Sean is still coaching, I honestly don't think there's a high probability we draft a 1st rounder when Brees retires.

Saints are way down there. Who would of thought our team won a Super Bowl a few seasons back...

Really? You went and signed a pro bowl QB right before that.

The fact you all dont draft 1 doesn't show nothing. It means you looked for talent in other rounds of the draft or maybe signed a FA.

Heres a telling stat from the pic. Ever since the Falcons and Ravens proved a rookie QB could be day 1 starters and have winning season and post season appearances. No other time in that chart has had more first round QB`s picked.

The Falcons and Ravens changed the way the NFL sees QB`s. No more of this wait a year or 2 before they see the field stuff. You draft them and they start day 1.

i think it shows how much more teams value qbs now than in the past. last few years teams have scrambled for their tom bradys and rodgers.

but the chart is slightly misleading. it doesn't mean all those teams towards the top never drafted qbs, it just shows the last time they did. if you did a chart like this every 15 years it'll look exactly the same.

Unless you are Denver. There, they draft the QB in the first round, bench him, berate him, then finally put him in when the team slumps.

The team goes on a win streak, wins the division for 1st time in 7 years, win in the playoffs in OT against the SB Champs and then they trade him to make room for an aging QB with neck issues.

Lots of way to win in the NFL, drafting a QB #1 isnt always the best way to get there.

Cool Chart...

THATS WHAT THE RAVENS AND FALCONS DID. JOE AND MATT

HAVE LIVED UP TO THEIR BILLING AND MORE. WE DRAFTED MATT THAT YEAR

AND WE HAVE NEVER LOOKED BACK. THE BEST IS YET TO COME.biggrin.png

Acording to some Falcon fans, DB wasn't jack until he came to the Saints.

You mean saints fans. They seem to forget he was a po bowl qb with the chargers.

I dont recall any falcon fans saying he sucked back then. Saints fans act like they drafted him and made him.

not all saints fans of course. Granted Pytons passing O padded his stats. The chargers made him a well known name.
