falcons007
They asked Ryan yesterday about it and he said though he doesn't think or worry about records, it would be honor to mention him along side bart. He praise Bart as greatest QB to play in atlanta.
falconidae
Ryan needs 4500 yards and 28 TDs to take over as all time Falcon leader. If He keeps up the pace from last year for two more years, he'll be top 50 all time for passing yards and passing TDs in year 7. FalconFanSince1970
He already set most of the Falcon QB records.

jimifalcon
some day in the far future,we will be talking about the "best" QB ever, the one who is not even playing football yet,the one that breaks all the "legend" Matt Ryans records.Man is it good to be a Falcon fan or what! pzummo
Am I the only one that noticed this from the article?"Ryan's 56 career wins are the most by any quarterback in his first five seasons in NFL history."
1989Fan
Ryan is already the best QB this team has ever had. ANyone who thinks otherwise is just not liking Ryan o afraid to let go of memories past.
Falcon924
Bartkowski was better than Ryan . Different eras different stats and Bartkowski never played with upper tier talent Ryan has been babied with like Tony G, Roddy White and Julio. Again Bartkowski 80' season Pass attempts -463Passing TDs -31 passing yards-3,544 yardsRyan 12' season Pass attempts- 615Passing TDs -32passing yards - 4,719 Just a different era . Bartkowski was never surrounded by elite great teams
1989Fan
It is a comparison of Barkowski's best season over a career to Ryans latest season, early in his career. (which Ryan's was still better with more TDs, more yards, less INTs, better completion %).Also failed to list INTs. 1980 was one of only 3 years in his career he threw more TDs than INTs. (81 and 83 being the others of note).Like I said.....I like Bart. But Ryan is already besting all of Bart's career highs, and about to break all of his all time records as well. Heck, Barts 3 best seasons of his career likely dont match up to Ryans 3 best at this point, only 5 years into his career.By the time Ryan hangs it up, there will be no debate who was the best ever for this team. The funny thing is the both ackwoledge each other as the best in team history. Falcon924
So you compared barkowski's best season over a career to Ryans latest early in his career. (which Ryan's was still better. more TDs, more yards, less INTs, better completion %.Also failed to list INTs. 1980 was one of only 3 years in his career he threw more TDs than INTs.Ryan best season was also last year along with best weapons in league + close to 200 more pass attempts but only threw 1 more TD then Bartkowski . Yeah it's also a total different era when corners can't touch Wrs . QBs can't get hit etc etc . Back in 80s football was different and favored defensive football

Bartkowski was never surrounded by elite great teamsRyan's also more accurate and makes far fewer mistakes than Bart did. He's also going to break records that Bart took 11 years to set in 6 years.Realize you think Ryan is a clumsy, noodle armed coward who's lucky to break the huddle without falling down, but yours is a distinctly minority opinion. Not sure how you could get 2 number 1s, a 2 and a player for a CNAC, but hey, there's a good chance you'll get banned before get a chance to explain it to m. Falcon924
The game is different . More complex route running leads to better windows . Wrs in the 80s were mugged at LOS and downfield . Go look up pass interference calls from 80s era of football to now . You can't touch a wr . Bartkowski was not throwing to freakish athlete like Julio and a incredible precise route runner like Roddy White not the greatest TE to ever play the game . All QBs from 60s to mid 80s were inaccurate in regards of comp % number game was soo much different the. it was nowadays won't find any 60 % comp guys until Bill Walsh WCO scheme and Montana

Bartkowski was never surrounded by elite great teamsIn 1980, Dan Fouts had 4,700 yards and 30 TD's. Brian Sipe had 4,100 yards and 30 TD's. It has definitely become more of a passing league and the rules do favor the QB's and WR's more today than back then, but it's not like it's the astronomical difference people think it is. Marino threw for over 5000 yards in 1984 and over 4000 yards 3 consecutive years. It's not like it was the 50's version of football.
