Trouble
Earlier on Tuesday we told you that Saints linebacker Victor Butler is waiting to hear about the severity of a knee injury he suffered in a practice at minicamp.A player that Butler used to back up with the Cowboys is also dealing with knee pain at the moment, although it sounds like Anthony Spencer was able to avoid a serious injury. Spencer wasn’t active at the Cowboys practice on Tuesday because of a hyperextended left knee. Spencer was hurt in a collision with another player in OTAs last week and had an MRI that also revealed a bone bruise but no major structural damage.“It could have been a lot worse,” said Spencer, via Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com. “You can’t play football without having contact.”Spencer is going to try to practice on Wednesday, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the Cowboys opted to just wait until training camp to make sure that Spencer’s as fit as possible for a more crucial phase of preparation for the regular season.Spencer is moving to defensive end in the team’s new 4-3 scheme and still trying to land a long-term contract with the team after signing his franchise tender shortly after the Cowboys tagged him this offseason. Unless Spencer’s knee takes a turn for the worse, the injury shouldn’t impact any discussions on that front although the same probably can’t be said of the market for veteran defensive ends around the league. Trouble
Not sure, but if Cowboys where smart they would let him heel and not risk injuring him further just over a practice.
