Hypothetical Trade Scenarios

Thought we should have a thread devoted to discussing hypothetical trades for ATL and around the league

Here's one I'd like to see

Heyward, McCann, and Pastornicky

For

Luke Greggerson, Yasmani Grandal, Jedd Gyrko, and Rymer Liriano.

It'll be hard for the Padres to part with their #2 and #3 prospects, but Heyward should cancel out the loss of Liriano.

Grandal is a good catching prospect but recently got busted for Roids, and Nick Hundley is both old, ineffective, and a terrible teammate. Now the Padres have the best catching prospect but he'll still need some time to develop which makes McCann a valuable asset to them.

Greggerson is a really good reliever, but he likely won't be around when the Padres are back to competitive levels. Heyward's potential is the x-factor in this trade, along with the fact that he has the potential to draw more fans to the stadium. He along with Headley and McCann would give the Padres potential for a very nice 3-5.

The Brqves get yet another reliever to add to their bullpen, a 2B prospect that makes Uggla expendable and a very good OF prospect along with a nice C in Yasmani Grandal.

No way the Braves are trading McCann and the Padres wouldnt take a struggling, more expensive Heyward or McCann for half a season in exchange for top prospects when they're building for the future. Padres have a limited budget and are trying to sign Chase Headley to a massive contract.

Uggla, production-wise, is already expendable. It's something called a contract that is keeping him on this team. And before you state your typical crap of "we can trade him", no team is going to take on that type of money for a player his age, regardless of what garbage we receive in return. This isn't MLB The Show.

Can't we buy him out after this year?

Also, you ***** about strikeouts, yet you want a high-K/low-walk OF who needs TJ surgery in Rymer Liriano?

Liriano had a BA .280 with a .350 OPB w/ 32 steals and 65 Runs scored last year between High A and AA and despite a slow start in AA once he got there he drew 20 walks in 183 ABs which was his best rate in the minors to that point.

The TJ is concerning, but if he pans out he can easily fill the lead-off spot for a long time.

No, theres no option years or anything it was just a straight forward 5 year deal.

ugh, ******. I assumed that since we acquired him at his age we at least put an option year on like the last year of his contract if not the last two.

You thought they would've learned their lesson after Derek Lowe, but whatever.

He is also a volume base stealer. His CS% is high. And his bat doesn't project as a RF, but his defense in center was poor, so he was moved there.

If he was willing to take an option year instead of a guaranteed 5th, he would have stayed in Miami. That's the whole reason the put him on the market to begin with.

Eh, if Justin rebounds and Freddie continues to rake along with Gattis and assuming we get Gyrko who is probably a 20+ HR guy at 3B or 2B will we need a RF that hits homeruns? Fielding hopefully can be improved as it usually does as you progress.

I thought he left Miami because the Marlins suck and Loria is in general an asswipe?

What do you mean if Justin rebounds? Rebounds from what?

How can injuries that effect your swing not dictate your production? That might be one of the single dumbest things I've ever read.

Using injuries as an excuse is even dumber. Unless you absolutely shred a ligament or break a bone it shouldn't effect your production.

I'm not saying you should be able to play through every injury, but if you go on the DL for something like a strain and it's still effecting you a month later then something is wrong.

Also stop trying to veer OT
