Roman Harper signed an extension that includes $4M fully guaranteed in Year 1. Was set to make $5.25M in '13. No full details yet

My understanding is that Roman Harper now is signed through 2015, so he tacked on an extra year to his deal. Should help Saints cap-wise

What does this mean for #Saints? Guarantees Harper will be on the roster this year. Gives them cap help. Doesn't mean much for '14 or '15

He sees Vacarro coming in, and realizes he hasn't been living up to what he was being paid. I see the Vacarro signing as nothing but good for Harper. It's gonna light a fire under his ***!

That dude is the ultimate liability in covarage, and unless Ryan is planning on using him like Williams did then I just don't see a place for him on the defense or the team.

However freeing up some money is good, hopefully they use it towards Grahams contract extention.

Wasn't Harper a 1st round pick 3 or 4 years ago?

in before a Falcons fan talks about this deal putting us in cap **** next year

How can freeing up cap space be putting a team in cap ****? Or, are you just making a point of the ridiculous logic we find being used here regularly by some?

Don't you trust the Cap Experts here in RC? :)

Went from having one of the worse cap situations this offseasons to 17th with this latest move. Now, that's not Earth shattering by any means, but from where they were to now, 17th is pretty d@mn good.

The Loomis haters will be joining this thread soon though :D

The difference was this is an extension, not a renegotiation. Basically, a new deal at a much lower salary.

His cap hit this year was going to be $7 mil and next year $8 mil, but its now $3.6, $5.8, and $4.4 (counting roster bonuses) with only a $1 mil hit if they cut him in his last year.

Its the way the media words their titles. They say restructure for everything. Its why some of the so called RC cap specialist get busted for not knowing ****. Lol

For sure. Ryan, being the great guy that he is, will settle this contract talk tomorrow. The Falcons will get him for 10 years 2 mil per year with a signing bonus of 10 mil. No cap hit at all to the Falcons and they can continue to assemble the greatest team this sport has ever seen.

I find it amazing that there are actually Falcon fans here.......(Well, TATF) that believe exactly that. What's even more amazing is that they're deluded enough to state it publicly.laugh.png

Loomis drops a green deuce.

Loomis making it happen...again!

Making what happen? Another player has to take a pay cut. They wait until other teams are broke before doing it screw him out of refusing and outright being cut.

Loomis couldn't even get Aso, so he took 1 mill and isnt even sure what position he will play on a team loaded with talent with less job security.

The saints are 1 step away from rebuilding mode. Its basically becoming superbowl or bust. Or they will scrap a lot of those old names. They have already started, just fans think every restructure is Loomis magic. Its not. Its do or die for those players.

Drew Brees really ****** the NFL with his contract.

Good thing TD and Ice are about to show us how business is done

FIFY

They he had the stones to actually say the NFL overpays QB`s. He didnt only create the glass house, he threw bricks from the inside at it.
