Mark Bowman reporting Heyward likely to go on DL, retroactive to Sunday. That would make May 5 his earliest return.

Bowman speculates Tyler Pasternicky may get the call up.

Well lets look at the bright side. Maybe the time off will put some distance between his struggles/bad luck. And perhaps it will allow Schafer to get an extended look so the FO can make a sound decision when everyone is back healthy. If he hits leadoff maybe it bumps BJ back down in the order and takes some pressure off of him to let him get going. And it keeps Gattis in the lineup longer maybe.

As expected Heyward has been placed on the DL and Pastornicky has been called up.

Just saw a photo of Coors Field and there is snow and ice eveywhere and it doesn't look like they are preparing the field for a game. And it's still snowing although not very hard.

Braves announced that Heyward had to have an appendectomy overnight in Denver. Recovery time is 2-4 weeks so now we'll get to see Gattis in the OF.

The Braves just can't catch a break when it comes to injuries. Means we'll have to wait just this much longer to get our entire lineup on the field.

Justin Upton's 10th homerun in the month of April ties the Braves franchise record. Ryan Klesko did it in 1996 and Andres Galarraga did it in 1998 and 2000.
