who

Its a pretty big story. He was on jay leno and its been all over the media. Its the second chance kinda story. He was 11 out of top 100 LB`ers in the nation when he got arrested. But that was 5 years ago. He has a lot to prove.

I think Jay glaciour (sp?) has been working with him since he was freed trying to get him in football shape and trying to help get him a second chance.

The long road for linebacker Brian Banks to the NFL has contained many twists and turns.

It also included a short bald man who may or may not have been living under a bridge along the route.

Once FOX’s Jay Glazer became aware of Banks’ imprisonment for a crime he didn’t commit, Glazer began providing MMA training to Banks at no cost. The goal was to get him in NFL shape, and then to get a team to take a chance on him.

Glazer, who can be slightly persistent, became Banks’ biggest cheerleader, encouraging a team to sign him. Eventually, the Falcons did.

It’s not a tryout. It’s a roster spot. And now it’s up to Banks to make it to the 53-man roster, or at a minimum to the practice squad.

Here’s Glazer talking about his efforts on Banks’ behalf, from Wednesday’s edition of PFT Live.

He went to jail for 5 years cause a girl said he raped her. She then came out after 5 years and said she lied. SO he was released from jail last year.

And no I dont see him making the team.

wow what a BICH

hope he makes the team, a roster spot will be good for him after what he's been through. in jail five years because of a lying HOE. good luck to him on our squad

The Chargers are worked him out on Friday where coach Norv Turner said Banks showed "outstanding athleticism" and that "I certainly would not bet against him," according to U-T San Diego's Michael Gehlken.
The Seattle Times notes that the prospective linebacker ran under a 4.7-second 40-yard dash in Seattle. That's not blazing, but it's not bad at all.

teams that where checking him out included. Chargers, Seahawks, skins, KC, 49`ers (of course) and the falcons. There maybe more those are just who i read about.

Good to see so many teams willing to at least give him a fair chance to live his dream. There will be a lot of fans pulling for the guy.

His mom sold her car, her house and the borrowed a ton of money for his lawyers. He could really use the break.

Im rooting for the guy. Been in prison 5 years he probably is ripped and can just bench press a olineman out his way to the QB.

Anyone think he will make the roster?

Maybe he could land the scout team but its cool the falcons gave the man a shot.

Hope he makes it. I sure the guy will give 150% to the falcons.

Good move by the Falcons. What's it gonna hurt to give the guy a shot? My hat's off to Smitty & co. for giving him a chance. Even with him being a member of the Dixie Chicks, I'm still pulling for him. The guy deserves a break...and then some!

He is actually a official Atlanta falcon. If he doesnt make the 53 man final roster, atleast he has he was a falcon to put on his resume. That should help the guy.

Actually, the story is, its more the girls mothers accusation than the girl.

The mother filed statutory rape charges and his lawyer advised him to plead no contest because they thought that would get him off and he could keep his schlarship.

The judge gave him max sentence with no priors...

The mother then sued the High School (Long Beach Poly, I believe) and won a nice piece of change.

The girl was a minor and he pleaded no contest so the lawsuit was a slam dunk.

It wasnt until he got out of prison early, that the girl contacted him about friending her on fb.

Cool part of the story is that Pete Carroll was recruiting the kid all through HS and when he finally got out of jail, Carroll had moved to Seahawks and contacted the kid for tryout.

the girl was old enough to know right from wrong and should have told the truth.

Technically, she never got the chance, since his lawyer had him plea, there was no criminal case and since she was underage... it WAS statutory rape and since it happened on school grounds, the parent had the right to sue since the school "created an environment for it to happen".

She was a minor, there was probably more that she could do at the time, but if she was living with a parent who was that gung-ho to prosecute and get paid, it was probably not as easy as it sounds.

Im sure there was plenty of time to tell someone the truth.
