For what our team is, I'd take Colston over Roddy. Not saying White isn't a great athlete, but he is a punk and tweets too much. I'd stick with Colston.

Yeah he and other elite receivers went to africa doing charity work recently. Then he tweeted a lot about his trip. #thuglife

Just because he went to Africa, doesn't make him any less of a chump in the USA...

Because Colston was a big TD target until Graham came aboard. Ice has had many weapons to throw TDs to. Where are Colston's pro bowls or all pro honors? Colston is good but not Roddy type good. WFW also said possible HOFer...

Colston only has honors such as these to fall back on after retirement....

2007 ey.

U could use 2008 cause of ryan or a year when the player hes being compared too. But too use a random year to make him look better is a biased view

no 2007 is when he put it together while doing it with TERRIBLE qbs.

Colston has never anyone other than Brees throwing to him in an offense that throws the ball at a near 70% clip.

White has done it when he was the ONLY legit threat running or passing with terrible qbs ( in 2007)

And then being the only REAL threat in the passing game with a rookie qb in a run first offense in 2008.

And he has still out produced nearly every receiver in the league.

When Colston produces the type of numbers White did with a trio simialr to Harrington, Leftwhich, and Redman , and then doing it with a run first offense with a rookie qb and being the main target......THEN maybe you saint fans can talk.

Please, the Saints pass a lot, but Brees also spreads the ball around, it's not like Colston is always the main target, so miss me with that BS. Besides everyone is going back and forth about Colston or Roddy, when both receivers are very talented and either team could benefit from either guys services.

Lol Falcons fans still jelly about our 7th round steal outshining their all-world (traveling) loudmouth former #1 WR without making even 1 decibel of noise while doing it.

Maybe I'm not as familiar with the term "outshine" as I thought I was.

Lmao at colston being compared to roddy. Nawlins would be extatic for a brees/roddy combo. With roddys timing he would fit in great. The saints would have to give up graham sproles a first rd pick and the superdome...

It is rather hilarious, considering Colston has a superior contribution to his team.

Colston career

102 games

532 receptions

7,394 yards

13.9 average

58 TD's

72.5 ypg

Postseason play

45 receptions

628 yards

1 TD

13.9 average

White career

128 games

622 receptions

8,725 yards

14.0 average

52 TD's

68.1 ypg

Postseason play

34 receptions

369 yards

1 TD

10.8 avg

I guess it could be said White disappeared in the playoff opportunties he's had, vs. Colston who maintained his career averages. Colston also won a Super Bowl.

But some think Roddy is headed to the HOF........right?

I don't see Roddy getting in the Hall outside of a visitor pass. Not a knock, he's talented, but also benefits greatly from Ryan's reliance. Has there been a receiver more targeted over the last six years? I'd be surprised.

I will say this, he's definitely been someone they can count on to suit up on gameday. Pretty impressive run of good health!

Roddy White will certainly be in the Falcon HOF.

He will not be the Pro Football HOF, unless he quickly wins a Super Bowl or two and makes a serious contribution to the SB victory.

Colston won't be a HOF player either.

Both are very accomplished, but neither dominated the game during their careers.

I don't think anyone is seriously considering Roddy for the hall. He has 3 years to catch Keyshawn, so there's still milstones out there for him!

I'm sorry, but have Pro Bowls become meaningful in Rivals lately?

Jermon Bushrod racked up 2 in the last couple of years, but he was nowhere near an elite LT.

Brian Urlacker played in the Pro Bowl last year, now he can't find a job.

The stats don't lie. Colston has every bit as good of stats as Roddy. Better in many cases. Roddy is a great player, but so is Colston. Say what you want, but Colston is just as important to his team as Roddy has been to his.

Neither are likely to enter the HOF.

I am hoping that there isn't anybody in here stupid enough to say they know more about statistical analysis than the people at Football Outsiders, so let see what they have to say. BTW...I only went back to 2009 to be fair to Matt Ryan since one could say he didn't have enough experience before that

In case you all don't know it, Football Outsiders has ratings for overall value AND value per play. I will list the ranking for both for each players by year

2012

Colston 6 and 15

White 9 and 20

2011

Colston 6 and 5

White 19 and 45

2010

Colston 15 and 28

White 4 and 26

2009

Colston 7 and 6

White 33 and 48

and before we hear the argument about coverage being concentrated on White more than Colston, here are some notables that fared better than White in every year other than 2010 who don't have an 'elite' QB throwing to them and don't have many other weapons on their offense

2009

Fitz, Sydney Rice, V Jax, Miles Austin, Andre Johnson, Ochocinco

2011

Megatron, Cruz, AJ Green, Fitz, Dez Bryant, Steve Smith (Car)

2012

Megatron, Andre Johnson, Dez Bryant, Michael Crabtree

but I guess if you are paying more than twice as much for Roddy, it has to be justified somehow

Roddy has been voted in over Colston every time. The HOFers WFW mentioned had probowls and all pro status at least once in their careers as does Roddy. Colston does not have any of these accolades. As far as numbers Colston will not have the numbers Roddy will when he is done. Roddy has been very good about staying healthy Colston has not. Roddy's numbers will be better than James Lofton and Art Monk like WFW said. If they got in what is to stop Roddy from getting in? Colston always had Breesus throwing to him, Roddy didn't have much throwing to him his first three seasons and he didn't have much WR help around him until recently. This almost sounds like a little rival jealousy thinking Roddy could get in?

LMAO love how you just ignore all those facts I posted

not surprising....it isn't like you generally show more than a passing interest in facts

You ignored the Lofton Monk facts that WFW posted. Roddy will get to those numbers Colston will not!

Nosferatu.gif

what you did is make a prediction....sad that you don't know the difference

also, it is idiocy to compare White to Lofton and Monk who played in an era that emphasized the run far more and CBs were allowed to mug WRs and knock the stuffing out of them even if the ball sailed over their head
