Hardyfalcon
For those of you that like including him in your first round mocks, here me out. Margus Hunt is NOT worth a first round pick. I really liked him after watching him against Fresno State and his beast combine performance, so I went to watch more film on him and this is what I saw:He played against mostly Average/poor competition while playing at SMU and he wans't dominating. He dominated Fresno state's bad offensive tackle. He really struggled during senior bowl practices and was a ghost during the game. He struggle to get leverage and bend because of his height, so he cannot bull rush or push the pocket despite his strengthHe was one dimensional in his pass rush (speed rush to outside)He also failed to keep contain on multiple misdirection plays due to lack of lateral quickness, for example on read option plays (Which the Falcons will be seeing a lot of)I believe he is at best a second round pick base on potential, but the fact he is already 26 with little football experience tells me he will be a project and won't have an impact if any until at least a couple years down the road. Sorry that is not worth a first round pick. IMHO
muskokas finest ©
I agree. In a draft this deep, even at the #30 pick, we needn't take that kind of gamble.

Ben Day Hoe
We wouldn't take a guy like that in the first. We look for guys who have played more games and had more production. Too much of a project IMHO

AndySG
I think there are better options, but I don't think he is going to be the bust that people are expecting.
Guest Gritz
For my tastes I want someone a little safer with that first pick.
Peyton
Which makes me wonder........why is everyone in love with Ansah? He's just as much a project as Hunt, maybe even more.
Tuggle'2
I guess you really didn't like Peyton's mock. This deserved its own thread so much so. lol
Peyton
For my tastes I want someone a little safer with that first pick.I understand what you are saying, but it's just hard to ever tell what is a safe pick.Jamaal Anderson was the safe pick back in the day. Young guy who put up monster numbers in the beasly SEC.

Peyton
I liked Ansah a lot more when he was in the conversation for our #30 spot.I'm not afraid of a "project" if the guy has unbelievable athletic ability and good work ethic.i think Ansah and Hunt both fit that category.Antonio Gates....project.JPP.....project.....and he didn't even have the work ethic. Hardyfalcon
Once upon a time I clicked on a thread link due to the topic about "Margus hunt is not worth a 1st round pick" , so I thought to myself "hey, you know what, this must be a smart guy who knows what he's talking about..."However... not 3 seconds later I witnessed the OP's avatar with my very own eyes and I immediately withdrew myself from reading, left a comment on the thread, and left ASAP... The End.I just went to college with D.Davis at ECU, so of course i'm gonna like him, not saying he is "da future"

It's far from an exact science...which is why a mook like myself feels free to take a shot at a mock.
Peyton
The one advatage Ansah has over Hunt is he is not as susceptible to getting chop blocked. Hunt has to work on dealing with that, and I think he will.

Young guy who put up monster numbers in the beasly SEC.Back in the day when I actually spent time looking at draftable players, I thought Anderson would be a bust, his combine numbers just didn't come near any current (at the time) NFL pass rushers. I don't know a thing about Hunt though.
Hardyfalcon
Yeah...just don't agree with that.I respect that, I just seen Hunt fail to chase guys down field, maybe because he was tired, but I really love hustle players. I'd be happy if we got Hunt in the 2nd but definitely not the 1st.
