Unknøwn
So far we got Smart getting a raise and extension to stay at VCU. Interesting report though that Minnesota offered him $21M and he still picked VCUTubby Smith out at MinnesotaBucknell locked up their coach for 5 more years before anyone could come callingDuke assistant Chris Collins (son of Doug) was hired by Northwestern. Great hire for them IMOUCLA is also rumored to be preparing a huge offer to Brad Stevens but we all know he's holding out at Butler until Coach K retires. (Right?!) Carter
I really can't believe Shaka turned down UCLA. That blows me away. Not me. Shaka Smart has made no bones about his commitment to VCU and his players. I'd say he's doing just fine where he's at. Kinda like Petersen at Boise State in football. A good paycheck is a good paycheck and if you love where you're at, why move?Mike Riley at Oregon State has been offered bigger and better, but he always declines because he's happy where he's at and making great money already. Unknøwn
Alford had just agreed to a 10 year extension with New Mexico last week. Luckily for him he had only signed an agreement and not the official papers yet.

Porter Osborne Jr
Why did Alford never get the Indiana job after Bobby? Crean was a homerun hire but the two before him had me wondering.
Unknøwn
It was pretty much just the ADs decision that Alford wasnt the best candidate
Porter Osborne Jr
Well, he finally got it right on the third hire (if it was the same guy)

good2badawg
marshall basically begged south carolina 2x to hire him and they told him no both times.he may not be UGAs type of guy in image wise. as most know he coached at Winthrop, and there was a great article this past week in the State newspaper about his coaching style, very edgy. 1 story spoke of him advocating the use of a forearm against against USCe's center. hee got knocked out of the game. that was against USC when he was at Winthrop, the reporter was in the locker room. Others about him holding a practice that was open amd when someone touring.the facilities came thru with children he lovingly said get them the ______ out of here because he was cussing profusely. Great coach no doubt, just saying may not fit the model UGA goes after Edited March 31, 2013 by good2badawg
SacFalcFan
he may not be UGAs type of guy in image wise. he coach that went through and there was a great article this past week in the State newspaper about his coaching style, very edgy. 1 story spoke of him advocating the use of a forearm against an opponent and he got knocked out of the game. that was against USC when he was at Winthrop i am a big marshall fan personally.. he is a great coach.. also he is different from fox in that he would embrace our supporters instead of ignoring them and acting like they are a bother like fox does.. fox does a very poor job of interacting with basketball supporters from fans to boosters. i have been critical of fox all year due to his poor substitutions and how he hasn't put the best players on the court which imo caused 5 more losses on our schedule, but what disappoints me most is how he has dealt with those who love our basketball program and how bad of a job he has done basically ignoring that he needs to sell the program by going to fan meetings etc.. south carolina's administration has a big issue with marshall.. how do they turn him down 2x? crazy. Unknøwn
Marshall is a great coach he built Winthrop and now he's continued to build the Shockers. He gets knocked because he's already 50 and a lot of AD's like a young coach but look at Miami who went with Jim Larranaga. Marshall will be a steal for someone and he isnt afraid to build a program. good2badawg
Without a doubt he flat out can get the job done. Just not sure we would embrace his type of persona. Give Chris Collins 3 yrs maybe, he seems squeaky clean lol
