Osi Video - Meet Our New De

Yeah that's really what stood out for me too. He just burst off the line and beats his man before they realize the ball has been snapped.

I remember seeing a lot of Ray Edwards clips when we picked him up but a lot of it had to do with the push up the middle forcing the qb to his side. That doesn't seem to be the case with Osi. With that said we still need another body or two to make it work. Osi could end up having the same problem Abe had. When you're the only legit rusher, teams will chip you with running backs and tight ends.

I hope he works out and I hope the young guys already on our team will show up.

I've been wanted Osi here since 2010 when he first started having problems with the Giants. the main thing I love about Osi, as you saw in the video; he can not only get double digit sacks but he gets turnovers. he has a knack for working his way inside & that will come in handy against mobile QBs.

Would have been a whole lot better with Abe here. I care less what others say on the matter.

for some reason I think Abe is coming back here. I've heard he's got some pretty good offers but he really wants to play here in the ATL. I think TD is giving him the respect of testing the waters but has a nice fair deal in mind for him to come back. I think the main issue with Abe is that they wanna give the younger guys a go to kinda ween ourselves from Abe so to speak

That's all well and good, but we have been drafting scrubs man. They have had opportunities (sans Sidbury) and just haven't capitalized. What happened when Abe was hurt last year?

we had a bunch of guys with no experience, coached by a guy that didn't wanna be bothered with them. Abe got hurt on the last game of the season and had played a considerable amount of snaps.

They all have experience man, just not in the NFL. When you basically do nothing with an opportunity...I wonder.

You can definitely see how he gets so many forced fumbles. He gets his arms in there and just pop them out.

Interestingly, we play 8 games next year against QB's were top 10 in fumbling last year. These young, mobile QB's are more likely to put the ball on the ground than most. Kaepernick had 9 fumbles last year and only started 7 games! I'm excited to see Osi against RG3, Wilson, Kaepernick, Newton, and Tannehill. And Sanchez, who is a fumbling machine, we get to play him too smile.png

I get it, but you played ball man. you get out there on that field and you've got way too much going on in your head. you thinking about your assignment, trying to remember what this call means, dangit now they done audibled to a pass play. it takes time for the game to slow down so I can't fault those guys for being a little stiff getting thrown in the fire during crunch time. Grimes went down in the first game of the season & we had to go with McClain and he had a whole season of playing time and it paid off big. sometimes you get an opportunity but you not be prepared for it as best as you'd like to be. I'on know man, I'm just looking at it thru my eyes

As a ball player, my only thought was the opportunity to knock snot out of someone. When the game gets too far into your head, it nearly never leaves. That's how good players bust.

I've been a fan of Osi for many years, but unlike many I have liked...I have to admit that I haven't seen him play much. This isn't like me having seen Edwards, or others that I knew a great deal about. I have seen some snap stats, but I'm curious as to how he stacks against Abraham.

Also, this is very exciting for me...do doubt about it, but I still have some hard feelings about not seeing him and Abe together on the line. I know that this basically signals the end of that talk. I'm just curious if anyone else thinks we actually make another move on the line in the next four weeks. If so who and what position?

I still think Abe is coming back. I don't wanna guarantee it, but keep ya 55 jersey pressed.

Just kind of a gut feel. He has had a history of not going hard. He's had a history of complaining about the contract, pouting and whining. And watching the video, I was just reminded that most of his good play was when he was playing with guys like Tuck and Strahan.

on most of those, them guys are blocked out of the play & what they're doing has no effect on what Osi is doing. plus last season the Giants almost didn't make the play-offs until Osi came back from injury and that defense went on a tear.

This makes no sense. So you mean to tell me that the DE, DTs, on those plays had no bearing on how Osi played? That's not even logical. If you have a guy like Tuck on one side, and Osi on the other, obviously the OLine has to pick their poison.

Also, Osi didn't help them make the playoffs last year. They didn't make the playoffs.

They even mentioned it on NFL AM. They said they way Osi`s deal is laid out they might actually pursue getting Abe back.

You can bet if we think about it, TD and Smith have considered it. Especially if Abe and Osi are friends it would make for a great duo.

If Abe doesn't come back ill still always respect what he did for us and he was one of my favorite falcons. But im on the bus for bringing him back. Be nice to have a solid pass rush on both sides for once.

In one of his interviews, he talks about how he's not at all how they make it appear on TV. In regards to pouting about his contract, he said he was promised a new contract or to be trade, since that didn't happen, I can understand the frustration.

As for him being similar to Ray Edwards, in that the talent around him made him....I would disagree. There are a number of plays that he's matched up one-one-one and he straight out beats his man. Another thing I noticed, was that when someone else got some pressure, Osi was almost always the second man to get to the QB. You could say that is just Edwards, but I see that as something we were missing this past year. So many times, a guy like Kroy almost makes it to the quarterback, but usually they just step right up into the pocket. Osi, has more than 1 move and is more than just speed around the edge. You see him darting inside on a few of those plays. Obviously those are designed plays, but I think Nolan saw the same thing and saw a multi-faceted guy that can get pressure.

I hope we bring Abe back and have these two wreak havoc on the NFCS.

No, and I get that. I like Osi. I just worry that we're going to see the same thing that we saw from Edwards. Clean up sacks. If you have Osi opposite of JPP/Tuck/Strahan (Similar to having Allen/Williams/Williams), obviously he is going to benefit from having those guys. The same way that Edwards benefitted from Allen.

Now, my hunch is based on the roster as it stands today. It is fully based on Osi/Mass/Matthews/KB. If we resign ABE, monster dline. If we draft a beast, could develop into a monster Dline. But without Osi having someone on the other side, I fear that Osi will not have the same type of production as we all hope he does.

I know he's our "shiny new toy", but I feel like his success will be based fully on who lines up opposite of him.
