Darn good question. Teo is without a doubt a good, hard nosed LBer with some nice instincts. His limitations will only be evident in the pro game because of his lack of speed. He makes up for much of it with is quick reads and diagnosing plays. But the complexity of the pro game will slow that down. Will he be able to make plays sideline to sideline? Thats the question. Heck, we got rid of Lofton because he lacked some coverage skills and wanted more money than we were willing to shed. So why would the falcs turn around and go Teo with their first pick?

If we take a MLB, take Vince Williams in the fifth or something. I do like Te'o a decent bit, but he's not scheme versatile - he'd be dead weight in a hybrid D.

I don't disagree ... my premise is more based on the idea 'you can't tell how bad a guy wants it, or has something to prove'

IDK, guys that have a chip on their shoulder usually show it. I kinda started to become wary of Te'o when he came into the combine unprepared and embarrassed himself. He knew that he was going to be scrutinized 10x more because of his situation and instead of taking advantage of the situation and balling out he kind of laid an egg.

I just try to think how I'd act ... you know you're going somewhere where you'll be teased immemsly. He'll have to get used to that but like they said today, his team will tease him but 'you better believe if another team does, his guys will back him up.' I don't think it'd be a terrible pick at 30

so one bad game ...

Te'o didn't have "one bad game" ... he played a real team and got exposed. Look at UGA vs. Bama, and look at ND vs. Bama. One was one of the greatest games of this generation, the other was an absolute embarrassment. Te'o might as well have been the waterboy for all he did.

Man I hope not, he's the next Tebow when it comes to the media. I couldn't stand having everything falcons related be about him barf.

This too ^

so Te'o is to blame for ND struggling to put up any points at all

No Te'o is partially to blame for ND's defense being shredded to the point of begging for mercy by halftime.

isn't he also partially responsible for them being one of the nations top defenses last year.

I am surprised by all the negativity towards this guy

I have zero issue with him as a person, guy got duped is my view.

That said, to be a 1st round MLB you have to be Pat Willis - esque to justify it, especially with such a deep defensive draft.

I don't think he is special as a football player. Good, yes. But I don't think he's walking into pro bowls anytime soon.

And we need someone who will really impact our D. I don't think Te'o is that guy

^ this. He doesn't have that ... "thing" that a pro-bowl NFL player has. He will end up as depth on some team for a couple years, or a starter for the Jaguars.
