Does Konz Go To The Center Position?

Recommended Posts

I am telling you guys. You are sleeping on Hawley.

He is going to get the chance.

I think he, Reynolds, and Johnson are all going to be locked into a death match for the final Oline spot at eathc Guard or Center.

Naw if Hawley was worth anything more than a backup he would have had the job when McClure was a FA last year and when Hawley filled in for McClure at Center and played Guard.

If it works like I THINK it will work then I see the lineup being at the start of camp.

Baker, Blalock, Hawley, Konz, Clabo... That will be at the start.

But I think the lineup is going to be tinkered with with Konz taking center rep, Johnson and Reynolds also getting guard reps ( possibly at each spot). With Johsnon geting osome Center work in aswell.

I think it is pretty safe to pencil in Baker. Blalock and Clabo as 3 set starters with Konz nearly a lock to start... it is just a matter of where he does.

When I make it up to training camp that is the one battle I am going to focus on the most.

Nah, Konz > Hawley at C Reynolds> Hawley and Konz at G

i say Konz will be the center

But did you stop to think they only carry 7 active Olinemen on game day

Baker Holmes

Blalock

Konz Hawley

Reynolds?

Clabo

the way they have always done that is 5 starters ,a swing tackle and 1 C/OG

That means Hawley will be the primary back up at both G slots and C since he is the only other one that can play center.

i dont recall ever seeing anything from the coaches stating that Konz is moving to OC. I know it makes sense, which is why the talking heads are assuming it, but nothing official has been said.

I just know TD said he saw Konz as a OG prospect in the NFL because of his ability to pull on running plays and get to the 2nd level.

which is better:

Konz (OC), Reynolds (RG)

or

Hawley (OC), Konz (RG)

(I am personally still crossing my fingers for Konz (OC) Johnson (RG)....i want him to be the RG he was hoped to be coming into the NFL. I was stoked when we got hm, not sure what happened besides injury.

Back to the original 3, if we want strength I think Hawley is the strongest of the bunch. I think Konz and Reynolds are both tall with limited upper body power, but are good pass blockers.

That is a horrible choice to make, because both are horrible choices.

1) Until I see Konz in a proper stance and playing lower, with leverage, I am not going to just assume that is what will happen.

2) Hawley should be making beard trimmer commercials. Unfit for NFL duty. Weak, unskilled, slow off the ball, does nothing well aside from cashing paychecks.

3) Reynolds went on the PUP because he was outside when night fell on him.

4) Johnson is a worthless meatbag.

he was a rookie give him some time

Its not our job to give him time. Its HIS job to give Matt Ryan time.

Like I said, it is correctable. But before I feel comfortable handing him the keys to the offensive line, I want to actually see it corrected. And what boils my blood is if Konz doesn't correct his stance/leverage issues, we do not have a backup plan.

I also spammed the boards for us to draft him. He's still my favorite current Falcon. Plays my old position. <sniff sniff>

Blalock is nothing to brag about. He is an average starter at Guard in the league and it looks like he has hit his peak and would not be suprised to see him up for a restructure next season cause the value is gone IMO

He slipped last year, but that could have been a product of playing next to a badly declined McClure. Or maybe he's just declining more quickly than most. Don't write him off after one average/adequate year playing next to a C who should have retired two years ago.

NOTE: McClure came back to help the team, because there was no comfortable option. Just want to make it clear that I am not blaming McClure.
