GENERALZOD
I know Osi is younger than Abraham, I just wanted to ask because I haven't kept up with the Giants that much except when the Falcons have played them or their players. My question is, I know Abraham was limited on his play counts, should we expect the same with Osi? Or will we see a lot more playing time with Osi at the position compared to Abraham? I have heard some say Osi is a younger version of Abraham by comparison, if that is the case and he can play more than Abraham could then wouldn't that be considered an upgrade from the fact he'd be playing more? Meaning yes he would be an upgrade over Abraham looking at it that way.I must say from what I know of Osi U. I hope the Falcons can sign him, I sure wish though that they could find a way to bring back Abe at a cheaper price.......GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WiscoFalcon
Osi may be younger, but he's not bigger or stronger than Abe...
Butudontseeme™
Osi is more one dimensional than Abe IMO. Abe is much, much better at playing the run. I believe Osi will probably be on a snap count too to keep him fresh for playoff time.
Smiler11
I think Osi will give us what Abe gave us for the last 2 years.
PeytonMannings Forehead
Osi hasn't even been signed yet. There is simply no way to know (beyond speculation) how many snaps Osi will take, if he'll be on a pitch count, etc.

wordtobigbird
If he can stay healthy he will play more than Abe did last year when we needed him. You can't predict health though. And is definitely capable of playing all downs. If Abe, Bierrman, Edwards can do it, than so can he.
PHALCONABERNATHY
He's basically a replacement for Abe, he'll fill in and were picking up where we left off, he may get more snaps now if the defense looks as it is now come the start of the season. PeytonMannings Forehead
Good point. I wonder if anybody has the number by comparison last season how many snap counts he player compared to Abe?Abe had 747 snaps.Osi had 653 snaps.Oh, and just another intersting little nugget that has nothing to do with this thread, but does anyone wanna guess how many snaps Lawrence Sidbury had???

PeytonMannings Forehead
Osi was in a contract dispute all season and played less because of it.He was also dealing with the emergence of Jason Pierre Paul.Giants have always used a heavy rotation, similar to the Falcons. Someone posted a percentage a few days ago in comparison to Abe that pointed out that Osi hadn't played more than 70% of the Giants' defensive snaps in something like 5 years. Haven't made up my mind if that's a good thing or not. Don't know if that means they didn't think he was durable, or if it just means that he's a fresh 31. Sleepy27
I don't get why we are even signing the guy if he isn't gonna be that much of a difference. I've also seen from other people plus Giants fans that he is not good with the run, So now we are left with the hope that he can still get to the qb. Don't get this at all. I get it that Osi wants to play for the Falcons, but Abe did also. We will never know the real negotiations of the contracts. I guess it has a lot to do with the Cap and such things. Even if they sign Osi if they don't get him some help they wont be no better off in the pass rushing department, they are going to have to rely on the draft and rookies. I sure hope they can sign Osi though, and I hope there is someway they can bring Abe back at a cheaper price. I don't think that's going to happen but we shall see. JayOzOne
Am I the only one who thinks Osi benefited greatly from having incredible players at other positions on the DL? Without Abe at RE, my biggest fear is that Osi will be like this guy (either one):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0CofFYpTHw

Don't get this at all.I think Osi could still be very effective rushing the passer and he seems to be motivated to the n'th degree. Without a doubt though, we need another pass rusher besides him if we hope to have a good pash. It takes more than one regardless of whom he is. Without Abe at RE, my biggest fear is that Osi will be like this guy (either one):He definitely did benefit from the guys he played with but he is still an excellent pure pass rusher and was probably the best player on the NYG d line from Strahans retirement through '11. Last year they all looked like they sucked even the heralded JPP.

Falcon's Talons
Relax, everybody. Osi will be signed, sealed, and delivered to all Falcon fans. All that is being done now is the dotting of the I's and the crossing of the T's. The Falcons next concern is to shore up their secondary; either sign Grimes or get another CB either through FA or the draft. Tracy Porter or Quentin Jammer are the best two corners available and the Raiders have their eye on Porter. I thought I saw Antoine Winfield's name on the FA board, after his name I didn't see anyone else of note or worth on NFL network. There are a plethora of CB's in the draft however and the Falcons might find some good ones in the bunch. Defense has to be priority one since now the offense is set. Well, maybe. I mean, it wouldn't hurt to look at a TE with consideration to this being perhaps TG's last season. But, other than that, the Falcons offense is set. Enough said. xSICKxWITHxITx
Osi will not be limited like Abe. Osi will play every down. If Abe came back he would only play passing downs.

falcondiehardsince 88
see again here I agree to disagree..........I think that OSI is a bigger play maker than abe overall. Osi had a down year last year but so has abe so thats pretty even, Id take his age and his frame over abe because I feel he plays better all around. He forces as many fumble, and I think that 11 sacks is good, but when your it, and your on a defense where teams had to pass much more to keep up, that amounts to something.Abe blew up against the junk statuesque qbs, and did nothing elsewise. He was also injured in the playoffs, and seems to be injured and nicked up a bit more than osi. Remember, OSI also plays agains RG3 twice, VICK 2 times, romo 2 times, and then played the other scramblers so his sacks werent easy either.I think all in all its pretty even and in that case i go for less money, younger, and more able to play against the run. I love abe, but OSI is quite alright too, thats like missing out on 10 million but winning 9.99 million as a runner up
SkyeFalcon7
I'm looking forward to Osi joining the team. He will be reenergized with all the talent the Falcons have.
