It doesn't matter if he sees the $ or not. You give 18 guranteed to a player that is a walking injury and puts together one good season in his contract season. It sets a bad precedence and shows other players on the team you can perform and be hurt but have one good season and we will reward you, mind you we left our starting MLB go to the crap Saints over nothing. What value does Baker have to Falcons at those numbers? None now run along

Still buidling the greatest turf on earth. That's why we gotta pay everyone on offense max contracts. Next step, Ryan for 25M.

Well.. Seems like the current market price for LTs. Sure feels like we overpaid though. And whoever said that TD was running this franchise into the ground is an idiot. We would be not be anywhere close to where we are without him. How about you wait until after the draft to make these over reactionary statements... SMH at these armchair GMs

We won't re-sign him after his contract is up. Holmes was drafted specifically for the future. That's why him being so raw didn't concern TD as much as other GM's. Any more concerns chicken little?

Like how Sidbury was raw. Or how Meier is still on the team? Or Franks was raw.

Do you think Baker was a backup talent last year? Please say yes so I can show you why you're talking out of your *** yet again.

Last year he played well because it was a contract year. This is typical for lazy players. Look at any year before that, heck, Baker was a back up in 2011 when Svitek took his spot.

Thank god you people aren't GMs. Less than half is guaranteed. No way he sees the end of that contract. 18m guaranteed is a steal for a starting left tackle. Joe Thomas got $44m guaranteed

Agreed. Although I would say that the Joe Thomas contract is not the fairest of comparisons, he's the money man at LT (deservedly so).

Roddy played well during his contract year, and after starting out his career as a bust. Similar to Baker. And guess what? Roddy was a backup before he found success once Ashley Lelie took his slot. Next.

He also played well the year before. I'd take 2 years of good performance over 1 fluke contract year.
