Corey Lemonier

Recommended Posts

I think I have my first official prospect crush this year. I've been watching film, the senior bowl, the combine, looking over numbers, stats, measurements, everything, and the one guy that just shows up in every single facet of my scouting is Lemonier. He beat the best LT in the SEC, Chris Faulk, for TWO sacks against LSU, and in that game he was drawing CONSTANT double and even a few TRIPLE TEAMS. For a 250 lb DE, that is insane. You can really tell Fairly isn't around at Auburn anymore, because there is nobody on the inside drawing blockers away from Lemonier. Let's not allow ourselves to forget that Lemonier was playing on a defense coordinated by BVG. This kid is going to be an absolute stud, and is almost an exact clone of John Abraham and DeMarcus Ware when they were draft prospects. 6'3 1/2, 250, 4.55 40. Lemonier benched 225 27 times - that's exactly the number that Ware put up in 2005. 1.57 10 yard split, explosive on film, 9'11" broad jump, 34 1/2 inch arms...I just can't find a negative on this guy as a pass rusher. He clearly needs work against the run, but I would have to assume that if he isn't getting double/triple teamed all day every day, he'd have an easier time beating single blocks in the run game than he did at Auburn beating multiple blockers.

I'd honestly be happy if we took Lemonier at 30. Some people might get irritated by it because it's a "reach", but at the end of the day when you see talent and you aren't 100% sure it'll be available at your next pick, reaching needs to happen.

I agree, there are some guys that love him so much they say he could go top 15

With all the hype surrounding the other DEs, he has gotten slightly over looked...partially due to injury concerns, which he has cleared

I have my doubts about other DEs (ansah, mingo, Moore) but this guy seems solid

I agree and have been echoing the same sentiments about Lemonier. I absolutely think he may turn out to be one of the best pass rushers out of this draft. I think it is funny that you compare him to Abraham, because that is exactly what i get from him as well.

But we could be wrong according to kennesaw77

No way in heck he goes in the 1st. The guy isn't even that great of a pass rusher.

Based on what or who?

DeMarcus Ware comes to mind. Abe too. Then there's Derrick Morgan, JPP, Michael Johnson, even Greg Hardy. All guys that were raw pass rush talents coming out of college and are solid run defenders in the NFL today.

Morgan, Michael Johnson, and Greg Hardy could all play the run. Not sure on Ware or Abe.

I would be elated if we drafted Lemonier. At the combine he had added some weight fom his playing days and kept his 40 time down. He certainly has some skills sets and abilities that can not be coached. The bad is that i don't think a quick DE, such as CL, will last until our late 2nd rr pick...it would be a risk to wait but a complete steal if it happened. The good is, if TD likes him, he doesn't care where he is projected, he will take him....ie Lamar Holmes.

Does anyone know if the Falcons interviewed him at the combine?
