leftfield
DE - depends, none of us are privy to the Nolan masterplan. Safe to prognostificate that MN prefers more 3-4 looks so anyone that is tailored to that scheme would be my assumption. Our Defense has underwhelmed for most of Smitty's reign and that has been as a 4-3. I expect Nolan has been given a free hand to design what he feels is a potent D and heck he has the resume to prove that he can get that done.RB - get one FA acquisition. A savvy dude with some experience SJAX and BUSH both fit the bill I assume we wont resign A Smith either. Add another RB in the draft but in the 7th rnd. I am all over DJ Harper Boise St as the speed back who can do it all well save run between the tackles. If the O line is to be anew but untried line up then we need some pace to go round the outside.Whaddya reckon?

cnasty
Sign Mike Wallace (or Dwayne Bowe) and Martellus Bennet maybe an OG like Louis Vazquez + our current free agents. Draft all D except a RB somewhere.Offense would be unstoppable.Defense would be a project but a switch to the 3-4 would do us some good and will be an inevitable growing pain. Have an opportunistic defense (focus on turnovers) and just a beast of an offense.Imagine a 3wr set with Julio and Wallace on the outside, Roddy on the inside, Bennet at TE, and our RBBC in the backfield. How the heII would you stop it?
Radiohead
If TG retires, I would love to see if we could pick up Dustin Keller. Not going to come in and come close to filling in TG's shoes, but this guy can hurt you in the middle of the field and pickup clutch 3rd Downs. That is truly, all we need out of our TEs. kierstendawg
NFL Network @nflnetworkWhat moves should @Atlanta_Falcons make this offseason? Tweet responses to #ontheclock. Best answers to be featured on Path to the Draft! They need to go hard after Jake Long in Free agency as well as RMendenhall or SJacksonI believe this would secure the offensive line giving them a lot of versatility, maybe allowing to go after a guard in the second or third round if need be. SBaker could be moved to RTackle or RGuard, a lot of combinations and ways to mix the line if we had a true LT.They do not need to draft a TE with first pick. To many good TE's have been drafted 3rd and 4th rounds, use a pick from 2nd to third round to secure a good, athletic receiving type TE that can be developed in the blocking game, if there is one out there, other wise go after that next year. To many weapons on offense, especially with RWhite, JJones, and if we secure a very good RB.Draft Defense 1st round, Margus Hunt, Ogletree, the best LB/DE available, or a DTackle if very high ceiling in the pass rush game, Williams from NCarolina would be a good one if he is the best pass rush talent available at our pick.If we were to land a RMendenhall or SJackson, JLong or LT in free agency, draft one of the above mentioned, I would go ahead and use the 2nd round pick for best player available at TE, LB or DE opposite 1st rd pick.3rd round, speedy wr with the versatility to use in KR and PR, use Harry Douglass for trade, I really like Moe from Mizzou here unless projected later. I do not know his value, but he looks great to me, strong as well so durability doesn't look like an issue with his stature.4th, a developmental RB if MBall or STaylor, or someone along that lines is available, use Snelling as trade bait with HDouglas.5th, time for a good developmental QB high risk high reward to develop 3 or 4 years behind MRyan, Redman trade bait, I really like TBray here6th7th These two rounds are where scouts make their money, high ceiling players that maybe went 3 yrs and out, but played with bad teams, small school players un noticed, etc.UDFA's that I know about myself that could surprise, Branden Smith and RSamuel both could suit well with position changes, they were used multiple ways for the dawgs, I think a good scout could project a position for them to earn a practice team spot and make something of them down the road. I love BSmith as a wr and on special teams, and I wish RSamuel had come and played LB from start to finish with UGA.Retain Gonzalez one more year, he has one more in him.My End result is RMendenhall and JLong in FA1st round, use Harry Douglas, Snelling, to move up a few spots and Land Ogletree at LB2nd round SMontgomery i hope falls to this pick or CWashington3rd MGoodwin/Moe4th STaylor5th TBray6th Best player with high Ceiling available Just Because I am a dawg fan would like to see AJones here7th Best player with high Ceiling available another or AJones here, I actually think he will be a heck of a proUDFA BSmith, RSamuel, MGilliard Go Dawgs. J-Wall
Why not just pick up a RB in the 3rd or 4th round for a lot less than you'd have to pay a FA? because the chances of a 4th round running back producing at a high lever are vfar and few between. Proven commodity is what we need.
kierstendawg
because the chances of a 4th round running back producing at a high lever are vfar and few between. Proven commodity is what we need. This is probably true, but that is why I would make sure I sewed up one in Free Agency we know could get the job done. MBall or STaylor would be a very good 2nd back. Gujuboyz85
So this is all it takes for the Falcons to get talked about?Trading away for Julio and cutting 3 big name players. why on earth? would you want to trade Julio? the guy has been a breakout star for ATL and giving us one of the wr duo/trio along with White and Gonzalez. RS91
because the chances of a 4th round running back producing at a high lever are vfar and few between. Proven commodity is what we need.We got terrible production out of Turner last year and the offense was alright. There were half a dozen plays in every game where Turner picked up 1 or 2 yards when a younger, quicker player would have picked up 4 or 5. I just don't see the point in paying a lot for a FA when you can probably get at least a small upgrade from the draft. It's not difficult to find a good RB in the middle or late rounds. It isn't like we need Adrian Peterson to make our offense better. We just need a guy who isn't an automatic wasted down 4 out of every 5 times he gets the ball. Especially if Tony comes back for one more year.

kierstendawg
why on earth? would you want to trade Julio? the guy has been a breakout star for ATL and giving us one of the wr duo/trio along with White and Gonzalez.Julio nor Roddy are going anywhere, with MRyan that is our offense, it was what make DCOor cringe, with that if you sure up a very good run game, then it is pick your poison. Our offense could be even better and just explode next season if we have a sure fire RB, bring TG back, and get a true LT. Those two can be done through free agency, a lot of good ones out there, a few LT's better than Sbaker. Baker would probably be pro bowl on the right side, but it would give us a ton of flexibility as well as very good depth across the board. That would allow us to draft primarily defense, Even trade a couple of players to move up in the draft and get what we want as well as need. If we were in the middle of the first round and second round we could get two sure fire contributors defensively imo. Makes it a little tougher drafting so late, although we should still get at the least some raw talent with high ceilings.Another good thing we have going for us is a lot of these FA's that can pretty much pick where they want to go are going to want and play for a super bowl contender. We are just that, so that helps us attract some of the top FA's out there. Edited March 2, 2013 by kierstendawg
