I Think The Release Of Abraham Has A Little Extra Meaning

When I look at the release of John Abraham I think it has a little more significance then face value. I think this move signifies the move to the 3-4 defense.

It's coming boys, don't expect Freeny like everyone thinks..... This is going to be interesting.

This is going to be a crazy off season. We have a lot to do, especially since we were so close to the Super Bowl.

Although I am really nervous about the whole thing... I am very excited and happy to see a 3-4 get rolled out in Atlanta

This does not guarantee we are going 3-4. if we are tho, that probably mean drafting a NT with our 1st pick.

Yeah, I don't think that necessarily means that, either.

If it does, the same problem presents itself. You still need to find someone to rush the passer -- Abe is the only guy you had -- most of his rushes came from a 2 point stance the past two years anyway, so if the motivation is 3-4 the move still doesn't make sense.

Contrary to what most people think, it's no easier finding a 3-4 pass rusher. I don't see anyone in the draft I would hang that on. I see a bunch of intriguing guys but I don't see a Von Miller, or an Aldon Smith, I don't see a guy coming in that I'd stake having a team changing impact as a rookie.

Dannell Ellerbe anyone? He and spoon as ILB's would be a poor man's Willis & Bowman. Phillip Wheeler could be a possibility as well.

Unless Baltimore completely sh !ts the bed with Ellerbe, I don't think he's getting out of there. He's said openly he wants to stay a Raven, so I'm sure he'll make as many concessions as possible to make that happen. And from B'More's standpoint, they can't afford to let him go.

I certainly think the release of Abe could signify more 3-4 looks and maybe a switch to the 3-4 defense......certainly a legit and reasonable interpretation.

I think TD and Company believe that jonathan massaquoi will be able to play on of the OLB spots in the 3-4. It seems to me that they're a lot higher on him than anyone thinks.

I think for a year Mass/Beirmann can play one OLB spot, We will have a new free agent or draft pick at the other OLB spot.

Then we need a big hog to play the nose.

Babs and Peters, or Babs and someone else can play the ends in a 3-4.

Weatherspoon and Dent will play inside. I am not sure where Nic fits into all of this exactly. Or Peria Jelly... They may end up hitting the skids, but TD just doesn't want to give the switch away yet.
