2013 Imd Free Agency

Recommended Posts

Because in 2012 he was the best, most consistent corner on a secondary that was undergoing heavy overhaul at every other spot. Cincinnati was swapping in and out RCBs between Jones and Hall, they stuck Clements at safety and brought in Nelson, all the while Newman was a rock at LCB, taking every team's best receiver out. QB rating when throwing into Newman's coverage? 79.3. Huge upgrade for us when Cassius Vaughn's QBR when targeted in 2012 was 98.5. Newman is also very good against the run, and that's one aspect of his game that's been consistent over the years.

I don't disagree with any of that just saying he is still 34.

Please look through the spreadsheets for any mistakes I may have made. The layout of some of these sheets has changed a little bit. I should be updated to this point.

I should also have a bid-off for Brian Urlacher with Chicago. His offer was 3 years $12 million, mines was 4 years $16 million with a higher signing bonus.

Hmm...

Did you take into account that I dropped my bid on Byrd on the last page?

The Rams rescind their bid on Byrd after signing Kenny Phillips. +$4 million. Total = $11.5 million.

I went over my stuff again, I should have either $7.5 million or $6.75 million. That depends if the cuts are capped to $7.5 million overall or if it's per player and capped to $10 million overall.

1. $25 million cap space

2. Cut Jackson + Hunter, who combined to save me $11 million which is either $7.5 million or $8.25 million in savings so that gives me $32.5/$33.25 million.

3. Uncontested FAs - Cudjo ($1m), Richardson ($750k), Turner ($1m), Hayes ($2m) and Phillips ($1m). That totals to $5.75 million.

4. Bidoff FAs - Smith ($6m), Howard ($3m), Melton ($5m), Fletcher ($2m) and Amendola ($4m). That totals to $20 million.

5. FA total = $20m + $5.75m = $25.75 million

6. Remaining cap space = $32.5m/$33.25m - $25.75m = $6.75m/$7.5m.

I'm not sure if I've accidentally overlooked someone.

I should also have a bid-off for Brian Urlacher with Chicago. His offer was 3 years $12 million, mines was 4 years $16 million with a higher signing bonus.

Got it. Had it on the cap space sheet, but not on the LB sheet so I missed it.

Chicago GM make note you do not have Urlacher yet. He is in the bidoff.
