Francis York Morgan 25,144
Panthers GM here. We regret to confirm the release of Chris Gamble, our cornerback for the last nine years. While he has enjoyed several productive seasons here in Carolina, it is of no question to us at this point that he has failed to live up to his mammoth contract. Over the past three years he has failed to play a for a full season a single time, and he's only played at all in 30 of the 48 games, accumulating 3 interceptions and 22 pass deflections over that time period, and he turns 30 in March. The Panthers wish him the best in his future ventures, but feel that it is in our best interests to look to the draft and free agency in filling that void. The Panthers are currently contemplating many other cuts, but choose to abstain from making their last cut for the time being. Chris Gamble's contract had a 11 million cap hit for the 2013 season, and we save 8 million of that amount by releasing him, which, abiding by the standards set by the IMD commissioner, comes out to 6 million in cap space. That gives me a total of 21 million in cap space to work with.In addition to this move, the Panthers are putting in bids on the following free agents:To Desmond Bryant, DT, Oakland Raiders:Base_____________Bonus_____Total____Year 1. 1,500,000------750,000-------2,250,000Year 2. 2,000,000------750,000------2,750,000Year 3. 2,500,000------750,000------3,250,000Year 4. 2,000,000------750,000------2,750,000Equates to a 4 year, 11 million dollar deal with a 3 million dollar signing bonus. To Greg Toler, CB, Arizona Cardinals:Base_____________Bonus______Total____Year 1. 1,500,000------750,000--------2,250,000Year 2. 1,750,000------1,250,000------3,000,000Year 3. 2,250,000------1,000,000-----3,250,000Equates to a 3 year, 8.5 million dollar deal with a 3 million dollar signing bonus.((Okay, this text formatting sucks massive dong, I can literally click edit and save changes and it'll return a different format wtf)) Edited February 17, 2013 by TuggIe2

jfalconsp 2,669
Cincinnati BengalsThe Bengals have decided to part ways with Jamaal Anderson, DE. After going on IR last season and with only having 7.5 career sacks since entering the league in 2007, the Bengals feel the cap savings of $2.5 million ($1,875,000 after 75%) is better spent on other needs. The Bengals have also decided to part ways with Jason Allen, CB. Jason Allen was a 1-year pick-up who only even active for 4 games and was held back by a hamstring injury on top of that. While his presence on the roster was appreciated due to the lingering health issues of our first round draft pick Dre Kirkpatrick, we expect Kirkpatrick to be healthy and ready to go this season. His cap savings of $3.7 million after the $400k in dead money ($2,775,000 after 75%) will be used to help better the team in other areas of need. For both cuts, the total savings after the 75% rule is $4,650,000 which will round to $4,750,000. This gives the Bengals 39.75 million in cap space to work with this off-season. Look for the Bengals to be big players in FA and make a push towards getting past the Texans in the first round of the playoffs this seasons. Robb4242 2,701
That gives me a total of 21 million in cap space to work with.I think you may be technically correct here, but the way I described it in the rules is that we subtract dead money from the cap hit to get the savings. There is no dead money with Gamble if he's cut. Now technically, the bonus probably does count against his actual cap hit if he's cut, but I'm not 100% positive. So if we stick with what we have in the rules, you save the entire 11 million by cutting him so the cap space relief you get would be the full 7,500,000.
