M3T3
Give em a chance to go out there & compete. I say we let baker go if Holmes isn't ready let svitek start because we know he's capable. But the only thing I don't like about this team is we don't play our young players enough. We need to start doing next man up

He is a mammothThe guy only played one game of the preseason, right? So I don't agree that he looked good in preseason. But he's got all of the measureables you want in a pro offensive lineman. Looking forward to seeing him go through an entire camp and preseason healthy to see what he's got to offer this next season.
Cam Topdrew Bottom
From what I have seen he is a big kid with long arms and quick feet. If he understands leverage and gets the blocking schemes/assignments down he should have a bright future.

kiwifalcon
I'll be honest here when we drafted him I was scrambling for the keyboard and going who the F**K is this guy.Now on a positive note the game I did see him in the Giants I think it was the 4 QTR he looked pretty darn good and was moving his opponent around which was good to see.I actually hope we have a bit of boom prospect in Holmes. Guest Gritz
Since I'm a fan of all Mississippi colleges I got to see Holmes play a little bit for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles before we got him. He's unique for a tackle coming out of college because his pass blocking is actually far superior to his run blocking. You'd think a kid that size would be a road grader, but because he's so tall he's kinda easy to bend and get off balance when he's trying to run block..Has really good hand and arm fighting/blocking technique for pass blocking and nimble feet for a man that size. If Pat Hill can coach him up with his push and drive technique we'll have another stud tackle for our line.
Guest Negatorris
He should get some first team reps in preseason. Looked good anytime he was on the field.

atljbo
To the OP... I think we have something with Holmes but he is raw.... He has the feet to be a LT.... He mind me of a fineese LT when i saw the game of him vs Marshall .. What makes him a lil different is most guys (outside of 1st 2 rounds) .. You think they are better run blockers and wonder do they have the feet for LT..... Holmes is on the other side... He has the feet to play the passing game at Tackle in the NFL... Its his run blocking he has to improve and some technique stuff..Basically. It depends on how long it takes him to get it..... I dont think moving him to guard like someone said on another thread is a good thing... The guy is a tackle
Guest Gritz
I have a beef, why didn't we use him at RG to get the guy some snaps???The only possible answer I can come up with is that someone with the Falcons doesn't see the versatility in Holmes to cross train him in the guard slot......Since they seem to do that with virtually every other swing/young player on that line I don't get it. I would possibly start him at RT if he has gotten better at run blocking.

He's big, but not a strong mauler. He's quick and athletic for his size and therefore good in space at the tackle spot.

Wander if he stays with us or if we let him go. Maybe why Sid hasn't seen the field, cause he had the size and athleticism. Makes me worried about Mass now, cause he's intriguing. Karst41
Holmes at LT?I think that we get Baker resigned at a reasonable rate, because I do not seehim as a Hot Ticket in the FA market.Being that we have Zero shot at a top LT in the draft, we can keep Baker forunder $5mil a year. This gives Holmes one more year to cross train at both tackle positions.Clabo is going to be gone sooner than you think. M3T3
It's no way we can sign everybody WE want to keep & still sign free agents so that's why I say just start Holmes he is a 3rd round pick DAMMIT which means expectations are just as high as Konz. Former 3rd round picks by us: Matt schaub, HD, Laurent, decoud, dent, peters, mike johnson, Norwood, Owens & chevis my point is all of them played meaningful minutes in their 2nd year no matter if it was good or not. You gotta learn how to trust your picks F*** loyalty it's the NFL
