Basically said he briefed the Atlanta City Council and gave them the lay of the land which could include the Falcons moving to LA if everything goes south in the deal. Also said that apparently some council members leaked it and made it out as Blank threatened to move the Falcons.

Of course. You always see elected officials step up and be the bad guy because it's good for them being re-elected.

Actually you don't because it isn't.

If the Mayor came out and said Blank threaten to move team to LA it hurts negotiations to keep the team in Atlanta and fund new stadium. As well as the public view.

He's a politician. Since he was elected to be the mayor of Atlanta I am not going to assume he's stupid.

He's a politician... he just wouldn't say anything.

No but I wouldn't expect them to make themselves look bad intentionally. Again, it doesn't help with the whole 're-election' thing.

I am confused how this makes the mayor look bad. They must have had a meeting recently about state of new stadium and funding etc and meeting came away with no progress and word leaked that Blank has LA in his pocket if we can't get a new stadium . The mayor comes out and denies Blank ever threaten the move to LA. He clears the airwaves cause its bad for ongoing negotiations between the state and Blank about funding off a new stadium . If the mayor would have came out today and said Blank did threaten the

state it looks bad for negotiations and Blank becomes a bad guy . All the mayor is doing is covering Blank threats or actions. The mayor doesn't want to lose the Falcons

As someone with some insight to this process, and the talks, the Falcons are in no danger of moving to LA. Just stop.

im not worried..... this is obviously a tactic to help move along the negotiations.. ATL is a Major city, Jacksonville is the team that will end up in LA

Atlanta is a Major City....No professional franchise would ever leave the A-T-L.

Atlanta Calgary Flames

Atlanta Winnepeg Thrashers

Yeah that's not a fair comparison. The vast majority of people in Georgia don't know a thing about hockey, and couldn't care less about it. Football is a completely different story.

If that were true this whole move-to-LA thing would not be a story or topic.

How so? This current BS is all about money, nothing to do with fan support. The Flames and Thrashers failed here because no one cared and no one went to games. People go to Falcons games. Attendance isn't the issue. The current economic climate mixed with various other factors is the driving force here.

This is one of main reasons why Blank would move team to LA
