2013 NFL Draft:

- Trade Back: We trade our first for an early 2nd rounder and an early 4th rounder.

2. Larry Warford, OG Kentucky - We finally grab our RG of the future with this pick, and is it surprising? If we did no acquire a DE via free agency, I would be tempted to take a DE here instead. Warford is a dominant right guard, and will vastly improve our passing and run game over the next some odd years. He was shutting down some of the best during the Senior Bowl, and over the few seasons, has shut down some of the best defensive tackles in the SEC, no brainer here. I would even take him with our first at this point (depending on FA).

2. Brandon Williams, DT Missouri Southern - Brandon Williams is just a strong defensive tackle who can collapse the pocket, command double teams, and defend the run very well. I also believe Williams could potentially be a 3-4 NT, which could further elevate our ability to run a hybird defense. The guy weighs an astounding 340 pounds, but doesn't look it at all. He is very strong and stout, huge upside player.

3. Robert Alford, CB Southeast Louisiana - Robert alford may not be here, but this is such a deep CB class that I believe he will make it to this pick. Robert Alford is a straight up play maker. Also flying around the ball, with great instincts and fluidity. He can play both man and zone coverage almost as good as anyone in this draft. I believe he could play Nickle and also play on the outside. Him and McClain will be our future at the CB position. He also adds value as a return specialist.

4. Marquise Goodwin, WR Texas - Olympian, that is all that needs to be said. I am honestly hoping he makes it to this pick, but he could fly up the boards after the combine. Goodwin was solid all week at the Senior Bowl, and was very underrated at Texas. He is a fast reciever who can play in the slot come day one. He has the deep threat and play making ability that we can use to supplement the departure of Tony Gonzales. Thanks to this WR class, I believe he will fall more than he would in another draft class. He also adds value as a return specialist.

4. Gavin Escobar, TE San Diego State University - One of the more underrated TEs in this draft. Gavin has great length, catch radius, atheleticism, and hands. He can stretch the field, and make all of the tough catches. He may not be the fastest tight end, but he is one of the smartest, and toughest. He also is a willing blocker. If he is not available, I would select Vance McDonald here.

4. Sio Moore, LB UConn - This could possibly be one of the biggest sleepers in the draft. Sio Moore is more of an outside backer, but has the ability to move anywhere. He could help us tremendously in pass coverage, as he is one of the best, if not the best coverage linebacker out there. In a lot of ways, he reminds me of Bobby Wagner. With Dent coming along nicely, I believe we can use Moore as a replacement for Nicholas. He can also rush the passer and has played all over for UConn's defense. He will be a steal for someone this draft.

5. Lonnie Pryor, RB/FB Florida State - Another huge sleeper pick; Lonnie is a do it all kind of a back. He started out as a RB for Florida State but switched the FB for the sake of the team. He is a team player and will do anything to help them. Although he is playing FB now, I can see him switching to RB in the NFL, and I believe that's his best position. Lonnie is a down hill runner, deceptively fast, and breaks tackles like there's no tomorrow. He is a tough, tough runner, reminds me of a Jason Snelling except a little faster.

6. Mike Catapano, DE Princeton - My third sleeper of the draft, Mike Catapano. Just because he is from an Ivy School, don't let him fool you. He is very quick off the snap, and is a relentless pass rusher, and block shedder. He is very good in the running game and even better when rushing the passer. He had an excellent week at the East-West Shrine game, and turned the heads of several people. He may actually go sooner than this, but as of now he is still flying under the radar. I believe he can at least be a rotational guy, if not a potential starter, that's how good he is.

7. Josh Evans, S Florida - I honestly didn't know who to take here. I was looking at Zeke Motta but apparently he has flown up the boards. So here I will go with a very, very underrated safety, who often gets overshadowed by his fellow safety. Josh Evans is a guy who can be groomed to be a starter, and also replace William Moore in case he gets hurt...again.

So I hope you enjoyed it and actually read my reasons. I wrote this in about 10 minutes, so it is not as detailed as I would like, but if you have any questions, I have scouted these prospects heavily and will gladly answer questions and respond to criticism. I tried to make this as real as possible, but I know players will rise and fall so take it for what it's worth.

I believe we will find a way to clear enough cap space to sign to solid FAs, and I also believe they will be available.

I like it A-Town- not crazy about Reggie Bush and would rather draft a RB - but like the rest = good job.

Thanks man. I know Reggie isn't my first choice. But I think he would add to our passing game and run game moreso than what we have. Combine that with Pryor (look him up you won't be upset) I think we have a solid run game. If anything he bodes well as a stop gap guy for a year. He's still very serviceable.

Very nice best mock I have seen. I'm not sure some if the guys will b there but would love it if they were and we took them like Goodwin. Didn't Alford have a off the field issue?

Yeah I'm hoping some of these guys fall. It's a fairly deep draft in areas we need. I don't think Alford has any off the field issues. From what I've heard he is a hard working guy but his only knock is that he will be 25 years old when next season starts, so that will cause some teams to shy away.

:)

A-Town for GM...at least during the FA signing and draft. Not big on Bush, but you had me with Pryor...LOL

Thanks man, I would love to be a GM lol. At least an NFL scout lol. Yeah I would prefer to draft a speed RB and maybe we could trade a 7th this year plus next years 3rd to get another 3rd this year to draft someone like Gillislee but I think Bush can get it done for a year.

Take up Sports Management or an equal and start putting in for it like anything else. Just as I said that football isn't hard, neither is this. You just start today and move forward. Keep me updated.

Good mock but I think we can squeeze out a 3rd and a later pick in the 6 th or 7th round for our 1st but I still like the draft

Thanks and yeah I agree we probably can get another pick but I wasn't looking at the values, just went with picks where I knew we can grab the guys we need.

Thanks for the encouragement. I actually picked up some coaching last year and we went to the 3rd round of the playoffs. I like coaching but scouing is just awesome to me.

Sio Moore is a big time sleeper. He is a good player. He can rush the passer and is very fluid in coverage. He could push Nicholas from day one and would almost force Nolan to put him on the field. This is a good mock. Alford is a good player too. If not, BW Webb is my second favorite of those smaller school corners.

I'd rather go Joseph Randle in the fourth instead of Goodwin and go Chris Harper in the fifth, without signing Reggie Bush. I like Bush, but if you can spend that money elsewhere, which I don't think we'll have enough for both anyway, do it. Goodwin is a lot faster than Harper, but Harper is more of a receiver in my opinion while Goodwin is more burner. I like Goodwin, but for the kind of WR Matt likes, Harper is more of it. Big and fast with a bigger catch radius. Can beat the jam, something Goodwin can't. I see Chris Harper as a James Jones type WR.

Other than that, good mock.

Haven't been able to find out much about Escobar, so I'm glad you put up a little info on him. I'm partial to Otten from SJSU, but that might be just because he's supposedly a decent blocker and has an insane YPC average. I also believe there's good value in the 3rd at OG, both Richardson and Bailey could be there and both also have experience at OT, and I'd be happy with either of them, and take Jones instead of Warford with that early 2nd pick.

Overall it might be the best mock I've seen thus far, I like taking a S and project/raw DE type at the end of the draft. One thing I will say is you'd better be sure on that LB from Uconn, cuz LB is arguably our biggest need and if you wait to the 4th to address it, you've got another year of crossing your fingers that Dent and Nicholas magically become significantly better next year. Dent might get a little better but Nicholas is an average LB and offenses will continue to look his way.

Not a fan of Bush signing at all.

I can't see Cinci not resigning or franchising Johnson

Why release Antone Smith? Dude is a special teams Ace. And would also like to see him actually get some snaps in the offense. He has potential. IMO he is very much like Brian Westbrook was.

As for the draft picks I think they are fine. Would like to see more specifics on what pick in the 2nd and 4th round we traded for and how it looks on the trade chart. I don't think the trade chart is make or break, but is a good guideline.

You still in the service? Also bro, it wasn't just encouragement man. It was all out believing you can get it done. You need some Sports Management under your belt then send me an email when you're done with it. I tried to get someone else in, but he fought me tooth and nail preferring not shy away from scouting in order to stay a writer. The writing circles are starting to corrupt his vision. I don't know what the heck he's talking about now.

If you have the heart, you just need to take the course and get with the right folks. the course doesn't get you in the door, it just makes sure that others can't use it against you that you haven't had it.
