Gibson's Finest
Do you honestly think (if healthy) that things could have been different with him out on the field instead of Dent? Just wondering since I saw his name in another thread. I know woulda shoulda coulda doesn't matter, but the question entered my head and I thought I'd ask you all
Taydumz
Naw he prolly wouldnt have last past 3 games to injury prone
Mattyice2014
I've been wondering the same thing! It probably would have helped our run defense a tad but I doubt it would have helped to the point where we would be even be top 10 in that category. But, all things being equal and if he stayed healthy, then yeah - he would have played a lot better than Dent. Some here have said that Dent seemed to be coming around toward the end of the season. I never saw that. Something needs to change at MLB next season, IMO
Flip Flop
Not so much. I think that retaining Lofton would have made a difference.

rightsaidfred
Not so much. I think that retaining Lofton would have made a difference. In his prime, Lofa was much better at pass coverage than Lofton or Dent, IMHO
Gibson's Finest
Not so much. I think that retaining Lofton would have made a difference. For our run defense maybe. Dude flat out sucked in pass coverage so to me it would have been pick your poison with Lofton

Dude flat out sucked in pass coverage so to me it would have been pick your poison with LoftonWell, it isnt as if our LB coverage across the middle was stellar. At least Lofton is an excellent run stuffer. Having that kind of tackler in the middle would allow the safeties to pay more attention to TE's. Mattyice2014
Ah well! I honestly think the biggest defensive steal in the draft will be ILB Tom Wort out of Oklahoma! Many are predicting him to go 5th round!
ya_boi_j
If only we hadn't drafted jamaal Anderson and drafted good ole Patrick Willis

Flip Flop
If only we hadn't drafted jamaal Anderson and drafted good ole Patrick WillisYea, draft picks are a bit of a crapshoot. Willis would be awful nice, though. Willis is a 2007 draft alumn, so that is pre-Dimitroff. Doc Brown could fix us up nice.http://boards.atlant..._+time +machine
Jaymadd
maybe cause dent had trouble shedding blocks espeically against San Fran

st4ngeI2
he would've gotten hurt at some point. Dent isn't bad but he isn't good. Not athletic enough to cover the middle of the field and not strong enough to plug gaps...
slamee101
Say what you want about his price tag...I think Lofton would have made a difference.
cwell1
maybe cause dent had trouble shedding blocks espeically against San Franif we had DTs worth a crap maybe our LBs wouldnt have to shed blocks so much. Most good LBs are able to flow to the ball and make plays because their DTs occupy multiple blockers
Knight of God
I don't know. He wasn't there.
Psychic Gibbon
Dent started off slow but he started to pick it up with more experience under his belt, same thing with Konz. Since they started off slow, however, they continue to be the whipping targets.

Dent is solid, maybe even decent. We need a playmaker. Konz did not show RG ability. He was decent, but we could do better there. The whole team is all on the backs of specific players who have helped to dodge bullets all year long.

He was pressed into the position due to Reynolds getting injured and no one else being able to step up. He played like crap to start off but he got better as the season went on and played great in the playoffs against top notch D-lines. He'll be shifting to his natural position next season and now he has some quality NFL experience.

I don't like that kinda garbage man, it makes no sense to me.

Konz was an heir apparent to McClure so I'm glad he got some experience before taking over there. The growing pains were frustrating though, I won't deny that.
