New* Ideal Offseason

Ok, new plan.

FREE AGENCY/TRADES:

Sign Jared Cook (or a similar TE, but I like Cook)

Sign Ivory at RB

That fills 2 holes and saves us draft picks.

Then resign Moore, Grimes

Cut Turner, D-Rob. Again, I love D-Rob and think he could be a solid CB, but he needs to be cheaper.

DRAFT:

1. Front 7 Talent: Ideally a good DE falls to us and can make an impact day 1.

2. Front 7 Talent: Id like a true NT here. I think Spoon, Dent, and Nic would be better in coverage if we could take some stress off of them and help them in the run game. A big NT would do that. Above all else, these first 2 picks are best available front 7 defenders. I dont care where there play (I would like an End and a NT ideally) as long as they are talented and can make a difference. Adding 2 solid defenders early would help us. And I want 2 NFL ready guys, not projects.

3. Front 7 Talent: Changed this from Oline ( Ill go over that later) I think bringing in as much talent as possible on D will help us most short term. Going NFL ready D in the first 2 rounds allows us to take a risk on D with the 3rd round pick. This is where a Ansah or Hunt falls in. Addressing our deficencies on D with 3 guys (Hopefully, 2 NFL ready guys and 1 project with big potential) would make the biggest difference short term and certainly wouldnt hurt us long term.

4. OLINE: I had this as the 2nd round spot, but looking at our depth chart and seeing who comes back, this isnt a bad of a need as I thought. I saw that McClure wants to come back one more year. I also completely ignored the fact that Svitek was hurt all year.

LT Baker

LG Blalock

C Konz

RG Clabo

RT Holmes

That is putting a lot of pressure on Clabo and Holmes to step up, but I think they can do it.

LT Baker

LG Blalock

C McClure

RG Konz

RT Clabo

This wasnt awful, but it will be no improvement over last year.

Overall

LT Baker- Holmes- Svitek

LG Blalock- Reynolds

C Konz- McClure-Hawley

RG Clabo- Konz- Reynolds

RT Holmes- Clabo

There are some solid options in there. Keep in mind, we would be adding another 4th round guy into that mix as well. I think this will be a good unit. My personal favorite option has to be

LT Baker

LG Blalock

C Konz

RG Clabo

RT Holmes

That is a big line and gives us a lot more potential for improvement than staying with McClure at center. Overall, this unit is better than I thought

4. With the other 4th rounder, I want a dynamic threat. Ace Sanders definantly comes to mind. Also, Im sure Ill get blasted for this, but Denard Robinson is another possibility. He isnt nearly as polished as a WR but with a comp. pick, he is a wothwhile risk IMO. This guy can FLY! Would be the return specialist you guys have been craving for.

5-7. BA. Once you get to this point, you arent looking to fill holes in your lineup for next year, just adding depth, special teams guys, and looking for potential. We could go any which way at this point and Im not going to pretend that I know what we are going to do. Id say get some more defenders, but thats just me.

I agree with the Chris Irvory thing. I would also like to see Deangleo Williams, doubt that is possible. If we do go to 3-4, i would try to bring in either Anthony Spencer, Chase Blackburn or Shaun Phillips or all of them if possible. I think we can only just wait now and see what they will do.

Blackburn would help a lot not sure the other two.

I say commiting the first 3 picks to D would help a transition to a 3-4. I was very much against the move to a 3-4 up until about the midway through the 2nd half sunday. we need to do something on D.I think if we really commit a draft to it, it could help us a lot with getting pressure bc we arent getting any in a 4-3 and Nolan doesnt seem to want to try anything new in a 4-3 to get pressure. Plus, I think the biggest thing it would do is bring more athletes onto the field and we will need them with all these running QB's

Keep the HYBRID just give Nolan thoroughbreds to use it to its best effect.

Defense defense and more defense this off season until we exhaust every avenue known to mankind to get it on the same plain as the offense.

I want TD and the FO to commit like they did to the offense and get us some thorouhbreds not the usual draught horse's we have roaming around...THOROUGHBREDS.
