Something That People Forget About Sf's Offense

Recommended Posts

First of all no one that is talking about the matchup seems to point out that after the Kaep pick-6. SF practically played a perfect game on offense. GB seems as unprepared as you can be almost as if they thought that Alex Smith was going to be the starting Qb. They also failed to make any adjustments.

The chances of having two huge weeks in the playoffs are **** near impossible even the '07 Pats could do that. So you look at the last handful of games where SF was still playing to win the division and home field for the divisional round.

Week 17 they played Ari the offense went 4-14 on 3rd down. The Cards have the worst offense so even with all those punts they were still able to get the ball that many times. Don't see that happening with ATL & our ball control offense, even if we can't run on them we will use short passes & screens to keep the clock moving.

Week 16 against Seattle the offense went 3-11 on 3rd down. In comparison the Seahawks converted on 11-13 3rd down plays en-route to 42-13 blowout. It would be hard for us to have that type of success against SF because they didnt have Justin Smith who will be more of an impact but the fact that two weeks in row they struggled on obvious passing downs it should show some weakness in their passing down where they can't fool you with the option.

Week 15 against NE their offense went 5-14 on 3rd down. The thing you can say about Seattle & Ari is that they have legit D's but then if you look at NE who has a bad secondary and they struggled to convert against them then this is more than a short trend it is a full blown problem that they can't convert on 3rd downs.

Shows you this big play offense is not as explosive as advertised.

The problem is 49ers offense can be explosive. Forcing them in 3rd down and 7 yards or more will be crucial. Falcons can't afford to give the 20 yard chunks they gave up in 4th qtr against SEA.

Yeah, those large chunks were killer. They need sound tackling and no blown assignments.

Kaep has an 8.3 Yards per attempt....best in the NFL among starters.

How is that not explosive?
