Nono
When I see a cop in the drive-thru or at a restaurant, I always wonder if they get a discount. They should if they don't. If I had a restaurant, I would give 1/2 off to the police anyway. They don't make a lot and then my restaurant or fast-food place would be the most secure place in town.I'd love extend that to firemen, military etc but before long you would be out of business, so just cops. MAD597
It makes sense to, give a cop a discount and they may hang around more thus making your business safer, plus it's just a nice thing to do and there is now real way a few cops getting discounts would destroy your profits
young mr. grace
I used to work for a well-known fastfood restaurant when I was a teen and police and EMS workers were allowed to eat free because our manager felt that they might not be able to finish their meal before a call came in. If I owned an eatery I'd certainly let them eat free, a few buck here and there isn't going to hurt your business and goodwill can be even more important. Free Radical
Usually there's some sort of discount. A BBQ restaurant I hang out at every now and then gives a 20% discount to men in blue, and of course a lot of big chains don't hide the fact they do that. Billy Ocean
No. **** no. I can't stand pigs. Firemen and soldiers I'm cool with, though. I had a friend in college who was a sandwich artist for a few months. Cops could eat free there, and he'd mess with their food whenever he could. muskokas finest ©
Depends on the neighborhood. If the business could benefit from an increased police presence, then by all means. If you are losing the local high school lunch traffic because of the blue at the counter, maybe not so deep a discount.
shc
I used to offer discounts to them at a motorcycle shop I owned. Would even open the shop after hours if they needed to pick up parts. It worked out very well.
GEORGIAfan
Not all cops are douches, so I would not have a problem giving them 1/2 off. Plus if I become their favorite place to eat, then I could see some safety benefits.

Summerbunny
I wouldn't serve them at all, and demand that they leave. Just me tho.My dad and brother are cops! They generally are given half off their meals just about everywhere and some places they eat free. And both work in different cities. I love to take my Dad to "lunch", I usually only have to pay for myself!!! And he covers the tip! hehehehehe!

Only difference is we don't get to hunt them like they hunt us.
Guest Regular Guy
I would give a discount no doubt. I would also extend that to military. I know that Chik-Fil-A gives cops a pretty good discount. Back a long long time ago, I worked at Domino's Pizza and we would feed the cops for free. There were two that came by frequently and I got to know both and basically I didn't have to worry about tickets AT ALL so it was very beneficial and having them around the store made for a safer environment. They also escorted whomever was going to the bank for the nightly deposit. A medium pie cost (back then) about a dollar to make so it was a no brainer. If I avoid them completely then I can't run into any bad ones.I get where you are coming from, but the restaurant situation should be different. If you gave a discount to cops then you would build a relationship with the cops that come into your business. Unless you are breaking the law, you should get some benefits from that relationship. Cops tend to give the benefit of the doubt to people that they know. So, speeding tickets and tickey tack stuff like tail lights and window tint would certainly get you a warning. It isnt the same thing as walking down the street and coming across a cop you dont know.

I have been robbed at gun point three times, kidnapped for 6 hours as a child, and held at gunpoint for four hours by a crazy drunk once. So I make up for you.
