falcon_ace
What the **** is going on here ? Underdogs Again in media & now in Vegas !From -1 to -4 or 4.5 ?Folks are dropping 100K + in vegas on 49rs to beat Falcons by TD or more.People who bet big know something we dont know ?This is same 49rs who lost to Vikings , NY Giants & Sea ?On radio its all about 49rs . They have better D-line , better O-line , better QB , better SP teams. Is Abe injury a huge factor ?
kschreck
I love the fact that many think we have no chance. Extra feul and that much sweeter when we win. Plus, I'm the only Falcons' fan that almost everybody I know knows and I will really have to hear it if the niners win.
Peyton
I am going to dub this the "Dom Capers" bump.He took his defense out there last week with a game plan doomed for failure, and it failed.I'm not a betting man, but my guess is Vegas is going to get rich on the Falcons this week, and they will have Dom Capers to thank. irish_falcon
It was never -1... I think it opened around -3 before immediately moving to -3.5 and eventually -4And a move like that isn't symptomatic of people who know something we don't, it's an offshoot of the fact that a lot of public money was on the Packers who got handled by the 49ers... so those same people are desperately jumping on the 49ers now! It's all public money, which is not well informed money!

The Mattural
It's typical media , Kap has a great game and he's now the greatest QB to ever live. They all love a new story and calmly look past Matt Ryan whose put up career numbers and gotten his first playoff win. I could care less about what all these bandwagoners think. Media will always go with the team that puts up the big numbers and has that wow factor rather than a team who has the better record but doesn't put up gaudy numbers to defeat people. Screw em. Flip Flop
What are the odds that Colin Kapernick has the game of his life a week after having the game of his life? What are the odds that gamblers bet on Kapernick to win the week after playing the game of his life? What is the limit of the cushion that Vegas can build into the line so that when the Falcons 'upset' the Niners, the suckers believe it was an upset? Our specialty has been sending these particular teams home with a loss.Definitely agree. It must be nice to get paid large sums of money to just pick the flavor of the week over and over and never having any repercussions. kschreck
These guys getting all caught up in the media snowball of support for a certain team have themselves to blame when they lose money because of it.
FalconinPA
All I have to say is that Vegas is set these fools up pretty. The media is talking these people into losing their monies.
BleedRedAndGold
Vegas odds aren't about which team has a better chance to win. It's about making money, and team popularity and popular opinion plays as much a roll in that as recent team history does.

Steampunk
Actually, betting on NFL games is a losing proposition and most serious sports bettors stayaway from it. Yes there is there is 10's of millions bet every game back that is suckers money, the NFL is too erratic, too many upsets and just too hard to maintain any + ev so its a big loserlong term. Most of these "pros" and I say that loosley will bet college football.

I think this is a evenly matched game and Vegas is using the monster game that the Niners laid on the Packers to push the line, but in reality these teams are eye to eye. PHALCONABERNATHY
I'm lovin' the hate, we've been underestimated AALLL season, let 'em come in the dome thinkin' we have 0 chance to win. Atlanta is showing support for this team that hasn't been seen in years, and plus, we're playing with the chance for a new dome on the line, so, again, just like I did last week, I'll stay away from the media news and ESPN who are expecting the 49ers to have the game of the millenium and watch us come out and take care of business. Peyton
We are the largest home underdog in Conference Championship history...Well I think the 98 team was the largest road underdog in conference championship history to win, so that will make a great matching set of victories for the record book. CR255
Falcons +5 at a sportsbook site. The line moving one way or the other only means the bookies are trying to keep their books balanced because so many are listening to the media badmouth the Falcons as has been the case nearly all season. Bookies are interested in the "Juice", not who wins or loses.
49erguest
I agree Peyton, to me watching that game the bigger story was Green Bays poor defensive game plan and their refusal to make useful adjustments.GB tried. But for anything to work, you gotta win in the trenches. SF beat them in the trenches on both sides of the ball all day long, This is what you guys will need to do win: You cannot let SF play it's game which is a pretty simple one, grind and beat on you in the trenches until you are worn down. They play old school fundamental football. Blocking, tackling, blocking, tackling, all day long and with the intent of beating their opponent down along the way. Falcon's will need to win the trenches to take the 49ers out of their game. Edited January 15, 2013 by 49erguest

It was like playing Madden out there for Kaepernick. There was nobody to account for him. It was really ********.Atlanta took it too far the other way against Seattle. They played zone and had Spoon spying as well. They will find a happy medium this week. Will Atlanta win? I don't know, but Kaepernick isn't going to be breaking off 20 or 30 yard runs every other play, I can guarantee that.
