FantasyFOF
Did our coaches not feel like we were stressed out enough??? Why would they do that to us. Worst special teams call ever
Brehus
You mean the failed onside kick squib kicks go further then 10 yards
Shuswap
he didnt kick it far enough to be a squib kick . it was more the diatance of a onside kick .
falcons007
It was a squib kick which was supposed to go like 15-20 yards so they pick it up and run the clock out. Leon Washington can take the distance if he touches the ball or at least in FG range. Edited January 14, 2013 by falcons007
Bill Brasky
It was terrible. The end.
BCEagleATLFalcon
Just didn't hit it right, I guess. Oh well, it led to one of the more ridiculous/hilarious stats of the game:Julio Jones' first play-off catch in the endzone was a Hail Mary ... interception. JayOzOne
Squib kick was the right call. Onside kick was a poor execution of the plan. I'm thinking Bryant was still amped from The Kick and didn't quite understand what was desired of him. And yeah, I'm sitting there watching the game over my folks house and I can't exactly shout out "What the F***?!!!!", but I sure wanted to. vel
It was supposed to go further but it hit the Seahawks player due to the fact that you can't predict how a football will bounce. It was a dribble kick.
RYNE
I think Bryant just tried to get a little cute with it and miss kicked it. There is no way that was intentional. For me though I am just kicking that thing as hard as I can. I about had a stroke when the kick happened. I couldn't believe it.

Bosher struggled on last two punts as well, I guess nerves got in to him.
JulioisCoolio
Why didn't we just run the clock down before we called TO before we kicked? No, it wasn't a perfectly called game, but you can't begin to imagine the pressure on the team in this game.
Bill Brasky
I would have likes to see him just boom it out of the endzone. 80 yards in 8 seconds is dang near impossible without Ryan at QB.
g-dawg
it sounded to me like the kicker thought the coach wanted him to do the kick that he executed. I don't know why the kicker would have thought that - believe it was just miscommunication.the kicker absolutely kicked it that way on purpose. freefall
It was Bosher that made the kick, not Bryant, and yes I would like to believe that it was poorly executed by Bosher instead of Mike Smith decided to go onside kick to run up the score on Carrol. gtjackets1729
Bosher handles the kickoffs not Bryant. You squib it to prevent them from running some crazy miracle return play. Just wasn't executed at all. Edited January 14, 2013 by gtjackets1729
falcons007
If you watch it, it was not a planned on side kick, the ball goes much slower on onside kick to give a chance for recovery. The players reacted late to the kick not giving them time to recover.

It is never, ever the right call. The only reason we beat the bears with 13 seconds left was because they squib kicked. You seriously think giving them the ball on the 50 with 6 seconds left (where Russell could have thrown a quick out to get in field goal range) is the right call? Over just kicking it deep and ending the game?Water under the bridge now, but I'd really love to never see us do that again

Leon Washington would have taken it to house or in good field position. It can go both ways, the problem was execution and in the CHI game falcons had 11 sec not 8. So yes the squib kick was the right call, but like everything else it just need to be executed correctly.
