Kevo
Really wouldn't surprise me if he left Bama to go to the NFL.As much as Tigers fans hate him...he's really achieved all that he can achieve in college football. With Saban's personality... NFL success is the only thing that's eluded him and it's got to be eating him alive.

SaintsFanInLA
I don't know why ANY college coach of a successful Div IA football program would EVER leave for te NFL.First of all, college players are on scholarships and can be smoov booted up out the program for any type of insubordination or lack of cooperation. If it comes down to deciding between an employee that makes 5 million a year or one that earns 25-30 million a year in a dispute, WHO will ownership more than likely back. NFL players who are making more than their Head Coaches are hardly the type to let a man just talk to them any kind of way and ain't as likely to jump through as many hoops.Secondly, the acceptable level of success is OCEANS wider in the NCAA than it is in the NFL where there can ONLY be one winner, the Super Bowl Champion. But in college, there are more bowls than "N-words" uttered in Quentin Tarantino movies. The community will embrace you if you win a championship or bowl game or two and ride or die with you even during the down years MUCH longer in the NCAA than in the NFL. Coaches are ALWAYS on the hotseat in the NFL.Who wants that kind of stress? So, you can earn as much if not more than a majority of the NFL coaches, have more control and enjoy way more variations of success. I would stay put. But that's just me. Some people are more ambitious than others but i don't see the point to a job if you aren't trying to advance your position. It's an ego trip. I'd want to win in the NFL too. Not to say i don't know what you mean but you have to see the other side too. NFL is the pinnacle. He can be as great of a college coach as he wants but when people say greatest coaches of alltime they think of nfl coaches because nfl coaches are better than college coaches. Just because they coached in college and not in the NFL?

I understand some coaches are just better suited for the college game but the ultimate goal is always the NFL. I would never mention Bowden or Bryant with Lombardi or Shula for example. In the NFL you can easily be 1 and done as a HC.Some college coaches just dont fit in the NFL. They sell the kids on the the dream of getting into the NFL. So the kids go out and kill themself for that coach. In the NFL those guys become millionaires and get contracts that will likely last past your time there as coach. They cant abuse grown men the way they do those kids. Bobby patrino`s worthless name comes to mind.

Des-pool
Usually, the best coaches in college don't jump these days unless a big scandal is around the corner, ala Pete Carrol, heh.
