dardan
It just feels like it. If you get there enough times, you are going to win eventually. I think eventually has arrived. This is our time, Atlanta. We've been knocking on the door; now it's time to blow it up.
Quarterback
How do you know Ryan's time has come? He's only been in the league for 5 years. With his slow development, his time could be 10 years from now. I guess my question is, what makes this year the year as opposed to last year or two years from now?And the then hopelessly stupid surface... Quarterback
Good job, Peyton. At the end of the day, however, I must associate Ryan's possible success with our offensive line...an undersized, interiorally weak offensive line.I don't see us havig a good, sustained running game against the Seahawks. Yes. we'll get some yards and have a nice gain or two in the game but nothing noteworthy. Therefore, to your point, this game offensively will be squarely in the hands of Ryan and the key wil be McClure, Blalock and Konz being able to give Ryan at least the minimal time for routes to develop and him target and deliver to the open man.But we also must have our defense play a very intelligent, strategic game. We are also a smallish defense--especially the DL--and we have seen big, physical teams wear us down by the fourth quarter. To prevent this we absolutely MUST avoid 10+ play drives by Seattle; to avoid such drives we absolutely MUST get off the field on 3rd downs. This is where Nolan will earn his Money on Sunday--getting Wilson and the offense off the field on third and longs.I predict we will see the best in Ryan and a Nolan prepared defense. I predict we will win this game by 10+ points.

He is a big strong mean guy.But.....the great ones are able to slide away from that interior pressure and get the ball out of there. And it's very helpful that the Seahawks best outside pass rusher is out for the season. We need Matt to be a great one on Sunday. And I think he is going to. putnam6
The SEC schedule is a trial by fire, if that was the best the rest of the country could throw up against Alabama. We could see Alabama or another SEC team win the next 2 or 3. I hate Alabama and all other SEC teams for that matter except (UGA) but you have to respect that kind of domination commitment willing to push the rules limit maybe LOL I don't know. But they seriously need another system if that was the best match up for a National championship game. Personally I think we saw the media and the population bases in the mid west and north east fall in love with Notre Dame and they lead the lamb straight to the slaughter. Time for an 8 team playoff of some sort or more than likely we continue to end up with these lousy match ups. **** I'd rather have seen what Oregon could have done. Obviously you are right about the SEC being able to win several NC in a row since they have currently won 7 in a row.
Mr. Right
they lead the lamb straight to the slaughter.Pretty much. The best part was when the Alabama QB and his Center had a fight. Can't think of any other team that would still have that level of intensity in the 4th quarter in a game in which you've obviously won except maybe Tom Brady and one of his guys. diehardfalconsfan
Unless a QB has a really terrible game, I've never understood the philosophy that the QB lost the game when you play as a *TEAM* that has to and need to do their job. And if they don't, it's somehow the QB's fault? It drives me crazy when many other parts of the *TEAM* don't play well, the qb always gets the blame. It was not a case of the Falcons defense being terrible. Rodgers miraculously alluded tacklers and threw balls into tiny windows the whole game. It was a herculean effort.Meanwhile, Matt Ryan threw the two worst picks of his career in the season's biggest game. It's all about the QB man. Everybody else need to do their job too, but the QB has by FAR the most impact on the game.
Mid-Nite-Toker
Let us be honest. This week’s playoff game between the Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons is all about Matt Ryan.+1No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Peyton
My initial post got pretty long, but another guy I should have included in my examples is Aaron Rodgers. It seems ridiculous now to think it was anything but smooth sailing for the guy now but we are talking about a guy who didn't get a single division 1 offer to play football coming out of high school. He went to Butte Community College I think it was. Then, he got a bit of a break and was able to go to Cal only because Tedford visited Butte to scout a TE.In the draft, he was expected to be a top 5 pick, maybe even the number 1 pick, but he dropped all the way to 21.Then he had to sit behind Favre 3 years. A lot of people assumed the guy wasn't going to be a player because the Packers didn't move on from Favre or take opportunities to showcase Rodgers for trade.I guess they knew what they were doing. Then his first year as starter he goes 5-11. His second year as a starter, he makes it to the playoffs and plays and incredible game, but the Packers lose in overtime because he got fumbled. So dude had his burdens to overcome and then some. It's easy to understand why he is so driven.I think Matt has that now.But Russell Wilson doesn't. He is an exciting young player, but, to quote Billy Joel, he has no scars upon his face.I don't think he is ready for this kind of pressure. vabchbirdlover
+1No ifs, ands, or buts about it.Absolutely, barring a complete collapse of the OL , this game lies sqaurely on Matt. Mr. Right
I think Matt has that now.Difference in opinions but I think Wilson has as much if not more of a chip on his shoulder as Matt. Guy's like 5'11, drafted in the third round, and started behind Flynn on the depth chart. He had to work his way to where he is now. Flynn also makes more than him and he knows that if he slips up, Flynn is more justified to start because Flynn has the bigger contract. What kind of adversity has Ryan had to face? Drafted number 2 in the draft. Day 1 starting QB with absolutely no pressure. Has the best group of skilled players on offense in the NFL. First pass in the NFL is a TD. Never had a losing season. When he loses, the blames rests on the o-line or defense. When he wins, he gets all the credit. Has a big fat contract. Will without a doubt get a HUGE contract extension because he's Dimitroff's pride and joy. Guy has it made. Just needs to stay injury free and retire. Everyone knew that Joey wasn't going to the starting QB. It's like asking Julio to replace Michael Jenkins. A lot of pressure there. Our team wasn't depleted with talent like the Ryan Apoligists like to think. All we needed was a QB and RB.
