Clark Judge On The Falcons

Recommended Posts

Falcons defense is the same as 2010 when we faced Green Bay ...and even worse to be honest

our defense is not much improved to 2010 ...statistically

2012 PPG defense : 4th (277)

2010 PPG defense : 5th (288)

2012 pass defense : 23rd (3656 yards)

2010 pass defense :22nd (3625 yards)

2012 rush defense 20th (1827 yards)

2010 rush defense 10th (1694 yards)

2012 SACKS : 29

2010 SACKS :31

2012 ints : 19 ints

2010 ints : 22 ints

The Falcons defense is not the same because the secondary has given up only 13 pass tds this season which ranks 1st in the NFL while in 2010 they had 23 pass tds given up which was tied with 5 other teams for 13th.

some people here really need to take to heart an old saying my grandmother used to say "he who angers you controls you"

Your grandmother was/is a wise woman. The experience on here is so much better when you respond to people you only want to respond to and ignore the rest.

Since 2008, when Ryan came into the league, we are 2-1 against the Packers and Aaron Rodgers.

Why is that 1 defeat more telling that the 2 victories? Because it was in the playoffs?

We were 0-2 against the Giants, including a playoff defeat in the same time frame but look what happened this year.

Each season is different, previous match ups hold very little bearing. Especially as we have 2 new co-ordinators and are as hot as any team in the league right now.

our pass defense is ranked 23rd...

we are first though in TDs allowed though ...

We are 13-2. We are the cream of the NFC right now. We are undefeated in the Dome. Allowed 2 TDs to 10 INTs to Manning, Romo, Manning and Brees in the Dome.

They can have all the yards they want. Our defense is ranked 4th in points allowed. That's all that matters. Our team has not been beaten in Atlanta in 2012. That's all the matters. The Niners, the only team you think can stop the Packers are 3rd in points allowed, only one spot above us. I like stats that matter in 2012: points and wins.

points all that matters...in 2010 Falcons defense was ranked 5th in points allowed 288

2012 Falcons have allowed 277 with one game to play

basically the same

The difference in points allowed from both 2010 and 2012 is that the Falcons had one of the better run defenses which made up for the points given up in the passing game in 2010 while in 2012 their pass defense has made up for the amount of points given up in the run game.

2010 season...1 seed 13-3

defensive rankings same as 2012 as we were 5th in points allowed

7-1 @ home in 2010

any more similarities

Lol I guess we should brace ourselves for a 48-21 beating then since you and the media neglect the addition of Asante, McClain, a more experienced Spoon, Moore and DeCoud. Come on. Look at this defense compared to the 2010 defense. Night and day. Different mentality, different DC, different schemes. Comparing the 2010 and 2012 Falcons is a lazy and futile argument when that is TWO YEARS AGO! Shlt it's stupid that you try it. The Giants beat us 24-2 and won the Super Bowl last year. This year we beat the Giants 34-0 and they won't make the playoffs. Big difference and they are the same team.

Here's some more stats for you

2010 Falcons seasons grade via PFF- Off+82, Pass+33.9, Rush- 11.6, Pass Blocking+13.9, Run Block +30.8, Penalty+15

There's the 2010 O

Now let's look at the 2012 o

Off (Ovr)+103.2, Pass+88.1, Rush-4.4, Pass Block+14.1, Run Block-10.0, Penalty+15.6

We improved in everything except for Run Blocking which we have made up for this year by using an effective screen game in addition to our running game.

That also effects the pass rating as well...In 2010 the offense was still centered around Turner ..In 2012 Falcons offense is centered around Ryan ..those stats show that

And we were even worse running the ball that year, we were just better at run blocking to make up for it.

Also our D grades are way better this year than 2010 as is our ST Grade

Answer me this swift:

Which would you rather have going into these playoffs, the 2010 Falcons or the 2012 Falcons?

2010 Atlanta Falcons...we were better balanced and had a better run defense..We were also better in trenches ...better offensive line play in 2010 and defensive line was better as well and Abe was 2 years younger..

Lol yet you are using the 2010 Falcons as a barometer for why the 2012 Falcons will not be good enough in the playoffs. What sense does that make?

We were "balanced" but not assertive. The team was playing in fear of mistakes and losing and failure. Ryan's YPA was its lowest in 2010. We couldn't beat a simple Cover 2 in 2010. We weren't more balanced, we were safer. Defense wasn't better. The stats you pulled show they are close, but not in the slightest. We shut down some big QBs this year in the Dome. 2010 didn't do that. We outlasted them in 2010.

Try again.

2012 Run D -21.5

2010 Run D -35.6

2012 Pass Rush +13.4

2010 Pass Rush +12.7
