Dr Long Shot
When Peyton Manning won his first MVP award he was 0-3 in the playoffs. Ryan should get the same respect. But we all know he won't, and honestly, I don't care. Championship >>>>>>>>>>>>> MVP award, that's all Matt Ryan and his fans should be thinking about right now. Falconsfan567
Maybe Pat can get through to them. I doubt they pay him any attention, but this is a pass happy league and the Falcons staff is reluctant to get pass happy. Too many times they want to run the ball at the wrong time. Last night they wanted to throw deep way to many times in the 3rd quarter vs. trying higher percentage passes to pick up yardage/first downs to keep the drive alive. The Falcons are reluctant to get pass happy? Ryan has 571 attempts with 1 game left in the season. He had 566 attempts last season and 571 in 2010. So he's thrown the ball more this season. I don't know how much more pass happy you want the Falcons to get. This ain't Madden. Stafford throws the ball nearly every play for the Lions and they're 4-11. The Falcons are 13-2. They must be doing something right. I posted the numbers. It's not a good thing when QBs are throwing 40 and 50 times a game. Again this ain't Madden. That stuff doesn't work in the NFL. fuego
If Ryan had kept playing the way he started he'd be a shoo-in. But he didn't. Cased closed. An observation though. If he'd kept playing the way he started and the way he's played the past two games his stats would be unbelievable. Easily over 5000 yards and 40 TDs. PokerSteve
I agree with everything Pat Y said about Matt Ryan. He is the sole reason this team is 13-2. With any other QB in the history of the Falcons, maybe one or two would've been able to accomplish this feat. I sincerely hope the rest of this team can rise up and duplicate the performance, determination and hunger to win that Ryan has always brought to the game since he arrived here. If they can do that, this team will win multiple Super Bowls before Ryan's career is done because he's going to just keep getting better and better.I don't agree completely with Pat Y concerning the running game. I think that needs to remain a big part of the Falcon offense, but Turner has got to go. He doesn't have it any more. Put Antoine Smith in. Give Snelling more carries. Just sit Turner down for the rest of the year and cut him in the off-season and wish him a fond farewell after he gets his Super Bowl ring with the rest of the team. No matter how you slice it. No single player has had a more positive impact on his team's W/L record than Ryan. Without Ryan the Falcons are a 5 or 6 win team. Even Ditka sees that. Original dirty_dirty
Smitty and Koetter need to see this.Just turrible. Stop giving that dude the ball unless he's averaging over 4 yards per carry. Trying to force the running game will get you nowhere, especially with Turner. At least give Quizz an equal amount of carries..They really do need to read this. This will bite us if they continue. I think they are trying to increase Turner's trade value or something

He only had 14 yards on 6 carries last night.
ChessPlayer1
How can Matt Ryan win the MVP when the national perception is that he can't win the big game?
freefall
I disagree with the article about Falcons being conservative in the 3rd Q as there was no evidence of that. However, you can make a strong case for Ryan being the league MVP. Falcons don't really have a running game averaging less than 89 YPG(29th) but 5th in passing(286 YPG). They don't have a dominate defense or doing well at getting off on 3rd down. Conversely Manning has a good running game and a better defense. So if Manning is considered as a MVP candidate then so is Ryan.

lawls1234
Well the Falcons had two 3 and outs last night and a saftey which I would put on Turners inaffectivness to run the ball. The first was at 7:07 left in the second. Ryan throws to HD for a 5 yrd gain then we go to Turner for no gain. Leaving us in 3rd and 5 which is a passing down because Turner has given no one a reason to think he can pick that up. So the Lions can pin there ears back and go all out for a pass rush which lead to a Ryan sack. The second 3 and out came at the start or the 3rd. Turner runs for 4 yrd (Good Job we are getting somewhere!!!) Then back to Turner for a -5 yrd run putting us at 3rd and 11 (Back to the old Turner) Well everyone knows that 3rd and 11 is a passing down I dont have to explain that to you. Incomplete. And the Saftey pretty much explains itself. If our "downhill bruising back" could actually get downhill it would do wonders for Ryan and his passing game. You can put it on the OL all you want but if you watch Turner never hits the line of scrimmage with a explosive force and it takes him a good 5 yards to get any momentum going

It's almost like people are wanting to blame Turner so much that they aren't even seeing what's happening most of the times. You can't gain any yards when you get hit 5 yards behind the line by 3 or 4 guys.

putnam6
I think we can win a Super Bowl with Turner and Quizz in a tandem. Formula seems to be working pretty well if you ask me. We'll figure out how to handle the Turner situation after we claim this title.....meanwhile, abandoning the running game, isn't an option.I like the fact that our QB is getting some mention of MVP.I love the fact that he has higher aspirations than personal achievements.Hold on tight Falcons' fans the fun has only just begun.......and you know these Falcons....they almost never make it easy on the heart. If you turn everything in the room off.....you can hear Saints' fans begin to squirm.Yep they have enough to get there,# 2 is ready and so are the rest of the Birds. Gonna be interesting to see who comes to the dome first.
CherryGhost
When Dom Davis was ballin' for the national powerhouse ECU fighting pirates, he didn't have a running game either, but carried that offensive juggernaut on his shoulders. When the boogeyman goes to sleep at night, he checks his closet for Dominique Davis.
