didz
Detroit game is a must win. We can't mess around now while other teams are trying to get hot and take the spot. Let the Packers and 49ers kill each other for that 2nd spot.

Shelley#37
Biggest thing about getting HFA is that we won't have to face the 49ers and Packers, but just one of them.
Karst41
No way does any team want to play on the frozen tundra.
fansince78
LOL...the topic is listed as "Why The Detroit Game is A M. I was like, I was trying to figure out why they would have moved it to the morning.
FalconFanForLife
Well I am totally in tune with beating Detroit for the #1 seed, but I am all about momentum. I think we really need to win our last two games for that momentum going into the playoffs. The #1 seed gives us the rest time, so I don't think Smitty will let off the pressure against the Bucs even with the #1 seed locked up.Let's keep rolling ALL THE WAY! TheFatboi
Do you realize that winning this week will ensure that the players won't have to board Falcon One until they are headed to New Orleans? For a team that didn't have any back-to-back home games this year, that should be all the motivation they need.I think alot of fans overlook that little nugget of no back to back home games this year. That's huge to have the record we have. I think it helped get us battle tested for the post season along with all the nail biter games. Tandy
Not sure Smitty will give them too much rest... they tend to come out flat after bye weeks and time off.... They need to be mentally and physically ready the three game winning streak like they were Sunday! Then its... a playoff win, NFCCG win and a Superbowl Victory! We play a Tampa Bay team that's already eliminated. They'll have one thing on their minds. Injury. We ALWAYS come out of those games with hurt players. That's one of the most physical games we'll play any time of the year. Knowing they have nothing to lose - and we have everything to lose - they'll bring it double. We need to win this game, then we need to play our starters sparingly in the last game - with the option of pulling them out if there's a chance of injury. Falco4
For next season, any time someone on these boards says, "This is a must-win game for us", you have to take a shot.
the_sheff
Honestly, if Smitty gave them 3 weeks rest i wouldnt like our chances in that playoff game.
Old fan
Honestly, if Smitty gave them 3 weeks rest i wouldnt like our chances in that playoff game. It's not so much rest as it is extra time to get everyone as healthy as possible. We have several starters who are hurting and could use an extra week to get back to 100 percent.
4dabirds
What if Detroit is a ....................................TRAP GAME?!?!!I don't think the Falcons will see it that way, because there is lots of talent in Detroit, plus the starters do want to be able to have that 2 week break, and there is some bad blood with Detroit that is going to be a motivating factor for some at least. I look for the Falcons to start fast and and keep it going just like they did with the Giants.
