The Atlanta Falcons already have clinched the NFC South title.

Now, it’s time for them to move onto bigger and better things.

According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Falcons can clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs if they win at Carolina on Sunday and get some help. Along with a victory against the Panthers, the Falcons need San Francisco to lose, Green Bay to lose or tie, the New York Giants to lose or tie and Chicago to lose or tie.

The Falcons also can clinch a first-round bye if any of the five following scenarios play out:

  • An Atlanta win, plus a San Francisco loss, plus a Green Bay loss or tie, plus a loss or tie by the Giants.

  • An Atlanta win, plus a San Francisco loss, plus a Green Bay loss or tie, plus a Chicago loss or tie.

  • An Atlanta win, plus a San Francisco loss, plus a loss or tie by the Giants, plus a Chicago loss or tie.

  • An Atlanta win, plus a Green Bay loss or tie, plus a loss or tie by the Giants, plus a Chicago loss or tie.

  • An Atlanta tie, plus a loss by Green Bay, plus a loss by the Giants, plus a loss by Chicago.

The important thing right now is not to screw around. We need a win against the Panthers. We got the help we needed to keep from requiring 3 out of 4 wins. We may get more, we may not.

We own this conference, we know it, and they know it!!

I get it now, what Brees was trying to say... He might own the Division but the Falcons own the conference...
