D.brees Still Feels Division It Belongs To The Saints

Recommended Posts

Brees said before the game the NFC South is the Saints' division, and both teams know it. He was asked about that afterward, and he smiled. He said he knows the Falcons will win the division this year, but he still feels like it belongs to the Saints. A lot seemed like it belonged to the Saints. Not much belongs to them anymore.

how many times has Drew Brees won the divsion since he's been here? 3 times over the span of 6 years. The Falcons have won it twice over a span of 3 years. They might beat us a lot, but they don't beat the Panthers and Bucs like that, and the Falcons have dominated those teams. The division will never belong to Skidmark or the Aints.

It's our responsibility to prove him wrong next year, and every year that follows. I swear all those shots of NyQuill have f'ed him up

Since '09, the Saints have won the division once, been to the playoffs twice, and are on track this year for a losing season. The Falcons on the other hand have won the division twice, have three winning seasons, and are virtually assured for three playoff appearances. Since '09 the Falcons and Saints are both 11-5 against the division. Since '09 we're 34-10 and the Saints are 29-15. The Saints have only beaten us one more time than we've beaten them.

Saints fans love to rub their SB victory in our face, but their team hasn't been the same since. All we need to do to take the edge is win in the playoffs. If we take the division next year, that will be the third time in the last four years. Brees won't be able to say he owns the division with a straight face.

I don't get Drew Brees.

Obviously he is a great player and he has done great things with his team. Why can't he just keep his opinion of Saints being superior than Falcons to himself. I mean, he should think that - part of being a competitor - but he does not have to say it. Let your talking be on the field.

The announcers were talking about having been told by Joe Vitt before Thursday's game that this last game was one of the most important for their franchise ever. This all but kills their Playoff hopes and pretty much guarantees the Falcons win the division. I think they know their window is starting to close. Brees isn't going to be around forever and Payton may go elsewhere next year. The Bucs are getting strong, the Falcons have become winners year in and year out and even the Panthers have the talent to get better.

The Saints delusions of "owning the NFC South" are slipping away like the mirage it really is. They've been a very strong team since Brees got there, that's for sure, but even with all that talent and their cheating they've only won the South 3 times... same number as the Bucs... same number as the Falcons (including this season)... and the Panthers are only 1 division win away from 3 as well.
