g-dawg
Heard this on Matthew Berry podcast today. As if we did not have enough reasons to hate the Falcons run game this week - here is another one. Believe he said Tampa defense has given up three rushing scores ALL YEAR.Matt is going to have to play his butt off for us to win this week. On the flip side, I think Tampa is in the 30's in pass defense.Matt is probably going to need to put up: 300+ yds, 3TDs and 1 pick(or less) for us to win this game.It says here he does:Falcons 28Bucs
SwampyMux12
Yeah, but it could partially be due to the fact that they are dead last in Pass defense so teams know they can throw against them. We can't turn the ball over this week because Tampa's not gonna be kicking field goals if they're starting possessions inside the 20. Hind sight is 50-50 but someone should have known that our run game was going to be a joke this year and done something about it this offseason. We're 3rd in pass offense and around 28 in run offense but you could ask anyone on our offense and they would 100 percent agree they would rather have it around 10 passing 15 running. It's tragically comical to watch a play action heavy offense not be able to run the ball...
daybumper
The Tampa defensive run defense stats are pretty skewed cause of the lack of attempts against them. They have allowed rbs to go over 100 yards , pretty sure Alfred Morris and AP both had solid games against them..
Guest Negatorris
It's been said.Either way our offense should move the ball well against them. I'll be concerned if they don't. TB's D is overrated.

Falcons_own_nfc_south
As long as Matt Ryan has a clean pocket to throw the ball... We would be OK...
Francis York Morgan
Knowing how random our team is we'll rush for 200 yards and Matty will have two picks en route to a 33-18 victory
Dharma Initiative
I don't know why people think this is a disadvantage for us. We don't run well and still keep winning. They are dead last in pass defense and that's what we're good at

falcons007
TB is 32 in pass defense and number 32 in giving up 15+ yard passes for opponents. Since we can't run the ball and pass the ball it can be a good matchup.

BigSombrero
While I agree with the overall feeling here, our run d is no mirage. We are so good against the run because of our d tackle play and the fact that our linebackers are coached to be aggressive. They attack the LoS when QBs make a move to hand the ball off whether it's play action or not. It's also a part of why we suck in pass d, our line backers always fall for playaction on 1st and 2nd down.I expect to lose this game because we cant cover for crap but run d wise, we are good. We lead the league in tackles for losses. But again, we should lose this one. Your passing attack is just too good. Now that hinges on how mistake free Ryan plays. We are 3rd in the league in interceptions and 4th overall in turnover ratio. So if Ryan plays another sloppy game our fortunes could reverse easily. Brehus
We haven't been able run since last year, so stopping something that has been broken all season doesn't hurt as much as you think it would.
Karst41
Wednesday Injury Report: Bucs, Falcons Sit Four EachPosted on November 21, 2012 by Scott SmithOn Wednesday, four days before they would meet in an important NFC South showdown at Raymond James Stadium, both the Buccaneers and the Falcons held four players out of their respective practices.Tampa Bay’s secondary was particularly thinned as the practice week started, as starting right cornerback Eric Wright (Achilles) and reserve safeties Ahmad Black (illness) and Cody Grimm (hamstring) were all rested. Both Wright and Grimm, as well as wide receiver Arrelious Benn (shoulder) were dealing with injuries that had been bothering them before they played in last Sunday’s game against Carolina.Three of the Falcons’ four sidelined players on Wednesday were also on defense: defensive tackle Peria Jerry (quadriceps), safety Charles Mitchell (calf) and cornerback Asante Samuel (shoulder). The fourth was starting wide receiver Julio Jones (ankle). Atlanta Head Coach Mike Smith said after practice on Wednesday that Jones will get practice time on Thursday.LB Sean Weatherspoon returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the last three games due to an ankle injury. Weatherspoon was limited to start the week but Smith said that he would probably be a full participant on Thursday. Here are the complete injury reports for both teams:Tampa Bay Buccaneers Player Injury Practice Status WR Arrelious Benn Shoulder Did Not Participate DE Michael Bennett Shoulder Limited Participation S Ahmad Black Illness Did Not Participate S Cody Grimm Hamstring Did Not Participate DE Aaron Morgan Shoulder Full Participation WR Tiquan Underwood Head Full Participation CB Eric Wright Achilles Did Not Participate Atlanta Falcons Player Injury Practice Status DE John Abraham Back Limited Participation DT Jonathan Babineaux Neck Limited Participation K Matt Bryant Back Limited Participation WR Kevin Cone Groin Limited Participation DT Peria Jerry Quadriceps Did Not Participate WR Julio Jones Ankle Did Not Participate S Charles Mitchell Calf Did Not Participate CB Christopher Owens Thigh Limited Participation QB Matt Ryan Left Finger Full Participation CB Asante Samuel Shoulder Did Not Participate RB Michael Turner Groin Limited Participation DT Vance Walker Ribs Limited Participation LB Sean Weatherspoon Ankle Limited Participation
Kayoh
#1 guy on their D that I'm worried about is Gerald McCoy. He might be the best 4-3 DT in the NFL this year. Other than that...I mean, MAYBE Michael Bennett, he tends to go off on us, but that's really it.
