treefiddy
Against the Saints, and hold them to a 3 and out (exactly like we did.) and get the ball back with :49 seconds left.We get to FG range and kick a game winning FG. Think it could have played out that way?Or if we go for 2 points and get it on our final scoring drive, a FG ties it. Any idea why we didn't at least attempt either of these possibilities? sdogg
If it comes down to short yardage again, we better kick the FG. Our guys are not man enough to fight for a game winning yard.
NOVAFalconFan
Swamp air makes Mike Smith stupid? And remember, there was no guarantee that our field position would be that good if they were punting after we kicked off to them rather than turned it over on downs. dmite
Saints wouldn't play call as conservative if they weren't on their 2 yard line and they likely get a first down if we kick the field goal.

Tallahassee
We had them backed up on the 1, which was what allowed us to stop them on 3 straight run plays. Wouldn't have happened that way had we kicked it....Hindsight is always 20/20. We should have been able to punch that in, but had no faith in our run game. Markieh18
they still would have ran the ball 3 times..they would have been in deep trouble with an incomplete pass.

What is it that makes him stupid in Georgia, in your humble opinion? He seems like a pretty good coach to me.

newgafatboy
not going for 2 really hurt, there is no difference being down 4 or 5 pts. it takes a TD to win , but if your down 2, a FG wins. Obvious coaching error.

Obvious coaching error. Not necessarily. It was 28-23 before the extra point. If we miss the 2-point conversion, and the Saints score even a field goal (which they did), a touchdown would no longer tie the game. There was enough time left that I think we were looking ahead to that scenario.
