Brees Looks Average W/o Katrina Refs, Or Holding

Brees went from an above average QB to a superstar when he showed up in NO after Katrina hit. They held on every play and Brees had all day to scan the field. Now that they can't hold w/o being called for holding Brees looks like a shaky rookie back there. It's funny to watch. Just shows how much better Ryan is than Brees because Ryan doesn't get shaky, he just delievers the ball down the field.

LOL!! Nothing to do with katrina (please stop with that btw). The o-line just hasnt been doing there job the last two weeks. So what your saying is that when a qb has all day to scan the field there is holding or its just the saints.....cmon tandy your better than that. Good Luck with the Denver Peytons tonight!

It's a comination of two things. On NFL Network they showed plays that Payton wasn't calling because of that leg injury last year. Brees just didn't see some things that Payton would alert him before the play.

Then Brees selfishly holds out all offseason while his team is in turmoil. He's rusty and doesn't have much practice in

It has everything to do with Katrina. The saints have been shown incredible favoritism since that disaster. It should never have been carried over into sports.

Brees got paid 100 M $. Don't need to play any harder and face it Aints with out bounties are scrubs on Defense. Hard to blame Greg Williams for putting bounties in place to make defense better.

Saints without bounties AND Katrina Refs suck. It's fun seeing games be called without bias. Even when these new refs blow a call they are balanced, everyone's games get called the same and it is great to see.

For whatever reason, the Panthers pass rush was blowing up the Saints Oline. On several plays Brees had guys in his face just as the ball was snapped.. No matter the qb, doesn't matter if they're elite, you hit them enough and they will make mistakes and get shook up. From Brady to Brees.

His Oline is normally great, which is why it was so weird seeing him get hit as much as he was these last two weeks. Over the years, getting to Brees on a regular basis is like trying to get to Brady or Peyton (Colts version) on a regular basis... it just doesn't happen, their respective Olines would give them an insane amount of time.

Nicks leaving hurt them, like when Dahl left the Falcons.

This. It has nothing to do with Katrina. Maybe it did the year right after the disaster, but there have been no lingering effects and no favoritism... and anyone who thinks there has been is just a sore loser from the Saints beating us more than we have beaten them lately.

I hate the Saints as much or more as the next Falcon fan, but I'm not delusional enough to think they've been getting special favors from the league or from the refs every game for the past five years. And it's really classless for our fans to keep harping on something like that, because Katrina was a terrible national tragedy that impacted millions of lives.

Glad to see somebody in here has some common sense. Just like someone said earlier the oline has been compromised.
