    • Are you crazy? Manning and Ryan aren't even in the same ball park.

I know I'll be flamed for saying this but I've got to ... I've been thinking this for some time now but scared to state it. After watching how the cuffs have been removed from Ryan I'm not hesitant to say it.

Both QBs started as Rookies, both also have the "Can't Win the Big One" monkey attached to their names. Manning finally removed his, and I feel that Ryan will soon remove his.

I believe Ryan looks more like Manning than any other QB. I've heard the Big Ben comparison but I don't see that. Big Ben is Big and Ryan is skinny, Ben is not moblie Ryan is a little more mobile than Ben. Ben has a huge arm and Ryan is getting there.

Manning and Ryan both look about the same in height and weight. Both throw the ball w/ the same motion. Both excel in the No Huddle. I remember everybody going crazy over Manning at the Line, but you never hear much about Ryan at the Line. Ryan is as smart as Manning was in his 5th year if not smarter, he rarely puts us in a bad situation, and neither QB is scared to hold it long enough to make a play. So many QBs get scared and fall down to avoid a hit, both Ryan, and Manning will take the hit while delievering a very catchable ball down field. Neither QB stares down their receivers, and they don't throw a lot of picks because ...

I want you to look at their first 4 years and compare the numbers. Since copy and paste doesn't translate well you will have to manually click and compare using these links.

We sure will find out come Monday night. This will be a very good measuring test for Ryan...which a lot of people like to do. However, I'm going out on a limb to say that if the Oline protects Ryan...Ryan will shine. If Ryan does anything to change the momentum in favor of the Broncos and we get down and lose....Ryan will get trashed mostly by the media.

Ryan's numbers are right there with Payton's for the first 4 years. It's possible for Ryan to tie or pass Manning. I think with Julio taking over Matt's numbers will start to be 4500+ a year. If he plays at that level and plays 15 years like Payton he'll be right there or a little ahead in the end. I understand the Payton Ryan comparison, but I don't see them being comparable as QBs besides the no huddle offense

Ryan will not be the next Manning. He will become the next Matt Ryan. I honestly believe when it's all said and done he will be a HOF QB. Only thing that can stop him is himself.

I'm not sure Ryan will ever be as good as Manning was in his prime, but with the way offense is evolving and players Ryan has around him will give him a chance to match his career stats.

The thing with Manning though is that prior to last year, he had not missed a single game. Over his first 4 years, he also outperformed Ryan by 1,582 yards and 10 TD's.

I think he could get there, but he would have to have a long healthy career.

I have no idea, and it really doesn't matter to me.

I don't give a flip about where Ryan ranks compared to Peyton Manning, Joe Flacco, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Michael Vick, or anybody else. Having a consensus that Matt Ryan is the best QB is the best in history won't win the Falcons any games.

The only thing I want is for the Falcons to keep winning and win some playoff games, and maybe a Super Bowl at some point.

Ryan is easily most comparable to Manning. There stats through 4 years are pretty comparable to. Manning has 2000 more yards and about 15 more TD's but Ryan has ALOT less int's and hsi team has had a better record through the first 4 years.

I think if Ryan stays healthy and progresses like he has been he could surpass Manning's career

Matt Ryan has a higher career winning percentage than Peyton Manning. As a Falcon fan, that's what I really care about.

I'd much rather the Falcons win than see our players break individual records. If Ryan can keep a career winning percentage in the top 10 of football history, that means we would have one of the winningest teams in football history. Matt is 7th right now. (football history, including QB's from before the merger, not just NFL history).

I have never seen a fanbase try so hard to make a player who isn't close to what they think he is as good as someone he will never come close to in my life. Never seen it. I been on numerous boards, seen all types of delusional homers but the Ryan homers are the most delusional in the sports world. Worse than Tottenham fans as well.

Though I don't usually agree with clowns, you're right on this one. Ryan can be right there with the big boys if he wants.. but manning? c'mon. n

getting ahead of ourselves are we? thats a big comparison after ONE big game. lets take it easy for a bit and see if Ryan can keep this up for another 5 years with a SB ring thrown in. THAN and only THAN can we even think about comparing him to Manning, Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Big Ben, Eli.

Im a big Ryan fan by the way and hope he over achieves my expectations

I hate the comparison game but those who say Ryan can never be as good or better as Manning are just as short sighted as those who say that he already is.

There is no doubt that Ryan has been as good or better than Peyton Manning during Manning's first 4 seasons. The important consideration is how much better Peyton Manning was from his 5th season forward.

That story is unwritten so far, but I am definitely rooting for Ryan to surpass Manning in one aspect. To this day Peyton Manning still has a losing record in the playoffs.

I hope 10 years from now that is not the case with Matt Ryan.

Idk, man-I'm sure at one point in time every other "next-level" type Quarterbacks that IMO Ryan compares to- Rivers, Cutler, Stafford, etc. have had their share of fans championing them as the next Marino, Manning, etc. I don't think our fan base is alone in doing this.

Even Eli is now mentioned in the same breath as Peyton. Prior to the last Super Bowl- he was the laughingstock of the league by pundits for even suggesting he was elite. But it seems at the time- there were Giant fan diehards that believed him.

The bold part is exactly what I'm saying, so I to wonder why it would be such a stretch to say Ryan could end up being a better QB than Manning.

I honestly think some fans here simply do not realize the unusual it is for a QB to start as a rookie and not only win consistently but to have stats that consistent as well. Most young QB's have really bad years where there TD to INT ratio is out of whack and they make all kinds of mistakes. Ryan has been consistent since day one.
