Cb Trade Targets - Jags Rashean Mathis Or Aaron Ross

I realize we are probably just going to roll w/ what we got. For the first time - in a long time - Falcons have currently an entire compliment of draft picks.

Most teams don't want to trade good corners. However, the Jacksonville Jaguars are not going anywhere and they are definitely looking to build for the future. Falcons have cap issues so a trade may not be workable under any scenario. Plus it would continue the process of us becoming "Jags North".

Rashean Mathis is more towards the end of his career but he has been a good corner in this league - he has the size(6'1" ) and physicality that the Falcons need. He's 10yrs in the league though so he is either 31 or 32 years old which is old for the position.

Aaron Ross backs up Mathis and he played for the SB champion NY Giants at one time and was a first round draft pick. He is younger at 29yrs old and not as accomplished as Mathis but a better corner than anybody on our roster not named Samuel/Robinson.

I would not give up anything higher than a 4th or 5th rounder for either of these guys but it sure would help the Falcons out. Just a thought.....

now go ahead and rip it to shreads.....c'mon, you know you want to.....

I'd rather develop our own talent alongside our 2 experienced (3 if BG does his rehab around FB) Corners.

Owens, McClain, Johnson and Franks have all got game and now need experience to build their experience and skillset.

One or two of those fellas will be the next wave of decent CB talent. Patience Mr Dawg!

Rashean Mathis is merely a name people know now. He was a good corner but he's WELL past his prime. I don't have much faith in Owens but I'd rather just roll with him.

Ross would be solid but they just signed him and I don't really think they're unhappy with him to just let him go for a 4th or 5th rounder.

I think we just roll with what we got or go after a guy like McFadden.

yeah, I honestly don't know how good Mathis is anymore - a few years ago, I know Mathis was an EXCELLENT corner but he could suck now - have not watched him in awhile.

hope your right. I still wake up in the middle-of-the-night in horror with Chris Owens getting torched or Chevis Jackson getting torched in years past.

Both have been "scary bad".

Yea, I always thought he was a good corner but I watched a few Jacksonville games the past couple of years and he's not what he was. I remember being at a Buffalo Wild Wing's sitting next to a Jags fan during the 2011 season and I asked him, "What happened to Mathis? He used to be a gamer!"

He just shook his head and said, "Just got old."

i'm not happy about BG being hurt, but i am happy to see owens get his shot. i've always liked dude, but i think he's been misused for the majority of his career. he is an awsome natural athelete. i think under the tutelage of nolan he could be developed into a quality DB. he is bigger, stronger and if i'm not mistaken, faster than BG. with some time in the new system, i really think he could become a pleasant surprise for us. i'm glad we brought franks back. i think with some time and coaching up, he could be a baller too.
