Espn Total Qbr

Ok, I've looked at the highlights of the game where Charlie Batch received the only perfect rating in total QBR in history, and I've decided the stat is even more useless than I thought.

His first pass of the game went straight to Talib for a pick....which should make a QB ineligible for a perfect rating in any system right?

Then, two of his three TDs were bombs thrown into double coverage where his WR just happened to come down with the ball.

Yeah.....I'm done with the QBR lol. I saw Aaron Rodgers play 10 games last year better than that one played by Charlie batch against the Buccaneers.

If you look at the stat lines from Palmer and Vicks game (2 and 3) you'll see how ridiculous those performances were. If you look at the expanded QBR numbers you'll see that they are better than Charlie Batch's "100" game. Isn't it possible that it is just an error on the site that needs to be fixed? Because it seems odd that it would be higher than those two games looking at the numbers they use.

Also, Aaron Rodgers has the highest QBR for a season (2011) of any quarterback in history, just because he doesn't have one of the individual highest games, doesn't mean that he isn't getting his QBR respect.

Yeah I hear ya, but none of Aaron Rodgers games from last year, many of which were virtuoso performances, are among the top 68 games played by a QB in the last 4 seasons, according to total QBR.

Yeah....I can't wrap my arms around that.

You see, I don't hate stats in general. I personally like them. I hate stats on this board because you guys used them like *******. Prime example: falcondiae.

Right, can't refute what I'm saying, so you resort to insults.

For their careers to end of 2011 [ESPN hasn't started keeping the stat this year]:

Vick is 23 of 81 attempts for 1262 yards, 7 TDs and 6 INTs for a 77.1 QB rating.

Ryan is 9 of 26 472 yards, 5 TDs and 2 INTs for a 90.5 QB rating.

For Falcon careers:

Ryan is obviously the same

Vick was 14 of 61, for 761 yards, 4 TDs and 4 INTs 71.5 QB rating.

If Vick is so much better at throwing the deep ball than Ryan, why doesn't it show up in the stats?

Because arm strength doesn't mean anything if you can't hit what you're aiming for or you throw it to the other team. Didn't say Ryan had a better arm, just that he had a better QB rating on those throws.

Got the stats from ESPN splits and used this QB rating calculator.

Show me how I'm wrong in saying that Ryan has a better QB rating than Vick on 40+ yard passes, both for their careers and as Falcons.

I did some googling and nobody seems to be talking about how Charlie Batch ended up on top of the all time QBR list so I decided to email ol' Pat Y and see if he can figure out the answer. It's a long shot, but with Ryan being on top right now, it might get his attention for a blog post or something.

Yeah. When I saw that I got really confused too.

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics," Mark Twain

Sorry, this is my standard response to all you stat lovers out there. I guess it's just a sign of the fantasy football generation, but seriously the NFL is getting as bad the MLB with all the emphasis on stats. I know why they have always done that in MLB: it's such a boring sport the fans need something to do while they wait for the 2 or 3 exciting plays in each game. But the NFL is too exciting to get caught up in the "paralysis by analysis" movement they want to impose on you.

Nothing wrong with being excited to see Matt Ryan's name at the top of the leaderboards.

The stat that makes me happy is the 6 TDs Ryan has, OH, and the no INTs AND, the 70% completion rate...

If I think back to how this board was last year after 2 games, I'm really grateful for discussions about great stats.

No they don't really mean anything, but it is nice to see Ryan leading in QB rating and QBR.

Newton at Tampa to start the year: 5 carries for 4 yards. 2 picks. 10 points, lost to a team that had lost 10 straight. I realize that stats don't always tell the whole story, but what about that performance says best player in the game?

Meh Meh Meh Meh Meh. Watch the games b*tch.

cam.pngHe is a threat all over the field. The hardest player in the NFL to gameplan v. and has no critical weakness just areas he could improve on which can come with experience. Smart player, extremely good work ethic, his size is an one of a kind, and he is a pass first QB. You better accept it now or you will never learn.

I might just get one and buy you a Carolina, Green Bay, and New York Giants pom poms and a skirt so you can be en vogue with the rest of your LGBT crew.

Go ahead, I need some kindling for the fireplace. I'll be glad to burn other team's gear. Unlike some "Falcon" fans you'll never see me wearing another team's gear.

While he may have no physical limitations, he does have a critical weakness between the ears and that is not something you can coach to. He is a thief (computers at Florida), a liar (he took money under the table from Auburn) and a me first player who has no qualms throwing his teammates under the bus...and apparently he is your bromance too. Good luck with that .

You know you would cheering like the Muslims if they had the head of the creator for the "Muhammad" biopic fail if I got you those pom poms and a skirt. You know you into that life. Don't front because this is the internet.

So you've disparaged Muslims and the LBGT community in 2 posts. Yet, you invite strange men to the gym and fantasize about them wearing other team's cheerleaders outfits. I'm not sure if you're a bigot or extremely repressed.
