That's not the reason he's getting attacked anyway. The OP did say we were Dimitroff'd because we didn't draft Murray and we took Quizz in the 5th. He has used the terms "star" and "franchise" RB in his posts about Murray. Usually followed by "trust me".

I am not a post digger. I'm not about to look through 16 pages of this thread and 3 different threads (2 last year plus this one). But he definitely thought it was a huge miss by TD and was very vocal about it after Murray had his breakout game last season. Trust me.

"Franchise" RB is a very different term nowadays. I mentioned Jamaal Charles. Do you consider Jamaal a star or franchise RB? Murray reminded me a lot of Charles and Demarco's career is off to a better start.

Let's be blunt. People want to ridicule the OP because he doesn't munch a$$ the way others here do. To that end they make fun of his posting style. I've knocked heads with the man many times. Surely you can find a better point of contention than Demarco Murray.

As to the post digging, all I do is go to Google and search <user name> + <boards> + <falcons> + <relevant keyword(s)>. Simple stuff.

Demarco Murray in 2011.

He was the one guy I wanted in the 2011 draft more than anyone.

I would have taken that mofo in the first round. No kidding.

He will be a beast. Trust me.

We might be undefeated if we had DM. Oh wait... We are. I'm glad we got Julio, but Demarco would a nice add.

Name the poster who came up with this quote?

"The main reason I was so down initially on the trade up for JJ is because I thought losing all those picks might prevent us from getting a quality complimentary RB like Murray - a position I felt going into this draft was as big a need (or bigger) than WR."

I'll give you a hint. He's the one nagging the OP. Here's the link.....it's post #29

That is effing hilarious actually.

Not really. I see a fairly significant difference between saying a guy would be a good complementary back and saying that a guy will be a beast and should have been a first round pick. It's like one poster saying Laurent Robinson could have produced as a 3rd or 4th option for us last year and another poster saying that we wouldn't have needed to get Julio if we had kept Robinson. There's also a large difference in the style of the deliveries. One poster sounds like he is trying to imitate Ric Flair, and the other sounds like a somewhat normal person (solely my definition of "normal," admittedly). Fine with me if you find it hilarious, though.

I clarified it just fine. Meanwhile, you're spitefully parsing sentences looking for trivial syntax errors.

Commas go inside of quotation marks, BTW.

You didn't clarify, just hoped it would go away.

BTW, your little grammar rule is not part of english grammar. Perhaps another adjustment made by those who follow the path of least resistance?

Also BTW, improper word usage is not a syntax error, just a plain old error.

Our WR unit would have been as good if not better as Roddy, Laurent, Jenkins, HD and Torrey Smith/Randall Cobb/Titus Dixon. Plus we would have had four additional picks for DL, OL, LB and CB. Jeez.

I believe Murray was projected as a first rounder in some mock drafts. He would have been the perfect compliment to Turner in 2011 and 2012 and primed for taking over the feature back role in 2013. I know this is Bleacher Report but check out their 17th pick in the 2011 re-do draft. LMAO.

Pfffahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

But in all seriousness, I wish the Falcons had picked up Brandon Bolden like I wanted them to. UDFA and he's doing well in New England right now, though he's currently out with a bruised knee. At least he isn't an injury waiting to happen like Murray. tongue.png

Lots of teams spending 1st rounders on acknowledged "complimentary" RBs. Giants with David Wilson, Lions with Jahvid Best.

Yea these clowns are making themselves look stupid in the process of trying to spite me. I love it bro.

You're still on Laurent Robinson and Michael Jenkins for whatever reason even though Robinson may have to retire due to all the concussions he's taken over his career and Jenkins is the #4 WR in Minnesota, and it's not like they're rich at the position. Get over your player crushes and people will bother to "trust you."

Somebody went on a post bumpin mission yesterday and stepped on his weenie. Embarrassing aint it?

It may take you all day to dig up a month old thread. Takes me but a few seconds. Hardly a "mission."

And what exactly do I have to be embarrassed about? Yes, we both liked Murray for various reasons going into the 2011 draft. Only one of us, however, pompously claimed that he was a 1st round beast and that TD was clueless for not reaching for him.

That someone is you. Hence, why the egg is currently thick on your face, not mine.

I do not think Charles is a franchise back. He is a star RB and is great when healthy. But you can't build your franchise around an injury prone RB. If you do, your franchise will suck when he's not playing. Now I could be wrong, he could overcome his injuries and prove that he is a franchise back. But one great season surrounded by injury riddled seasons does not make a player a "franchise player".

I only consider guys like Emmitt Smith, LaDanian Tomlinson, Ray Rice, etc... franchise backs.

I think he gets a lot of **** because he constantly harps on some of our best players and the guys directly responsible for our success. Harping on TD when he's a big reason we are a consistent winner. Or Mike Smith when he's been the most consistent coach we've ever had. Or Matt Ryan when he's working on every Falcon QB record in our history.

Some times he has a valid gripe. Rare, but occasionally. The entire Murray thing being proof that TD sucks or is not doing a good job is ********. TD has been a great GM for us.

The distinction between "franchise" and "elite" would make an interesting topic on it's own. I would argue that KC has their franchise RB because he is able to be amongst the league's most productive backs. Concussion and injury protocols, as well as a shift away from the traditional "bell cow" RB alters what being a "franchise" RB entails.
