laugh.png Amen.

You are as wrong about Palmer as you were right about RE(sacks)...enough with that bickering.

Do you think Brown is a T/E or big wr?

Hybrid. A bit of both really. Situational TE. He played RB and WR in college. I say he can pretty much give us some deadly options on offense. Kind of like Delanie Walker.

The distaste for Palmer just comes from a lack of seeing him do anything and being unfamiliar. I'll get over it.

I can see Brown in that scenario, the way I thought the elusive Meier would be: Still think Brown is better than Cone/Davis as a wr...makes room

for Coffman if he deserves it. Not so certain about Meier right now.

I already knew how you felt about Palmer...just instigating

No its no big man. Just not a fan. I agree with this though. Lamark is more of a possession receiver in many ways, but could be decent as a speedy TE. He's not slow for a WR. Faster than Meier and almost as fast as HD. I'd love him as a 4th WR and add Coffman as a receiving TE to compliment Palmer down the stretch. Looks good.

What does everyone see in Coffman? That he's 6'6" 250? He doesn't use that size for anything but catching the ball, and Brown is better at that than he is. Mild athleticism for his size (projected 4.76 - 4.84 40 time, Palmer is faster ran a 4.62). Anyone with his size can hurdle a 5-10 CB... Everyone want to harp on Brown's blocking but he sure as h@ll can block better than Coffman.

Brown brings versatility to the TE position, and most of all, YAC ability. He averaged 9.5 yards a carry at Kansas State during his 3 year stay (FYI, Josh Freeman was his QB then), and 11.5 yards a catch. Can also contribute on ST. Coffman will have to show me more than hurdling a 4th string DB for a 3rd gain to win me over...

That is the best solution. Coffman just needs somebody to treat him right and use him

and he will quickly return to college level production. Lamark Brown is a nice size to cross train

at TE/WR. The receivers Davis and Cone are practice squad guys.

I have been as impressed as most of you guys have with this LaMark Brown - but isn't he just an oversized receiver? He is basically the same size as Julio Jones - obviously not as fast.

How many Tight Ends in that play significant time in NFL are under 230lbs.?

just askin'.......What do you guys think? Can LaMark block and hold the point of attack like a real tight end is supposed to do? I know the guy is a "player" but is he miscast as a TE? more of a WR?

Shannon Sharpe was a wr turned TE. Lamark reminds me of that type of hybrid because he doesn't really have nfl wr speed. Maybe add 5-10 pounds but I think that's the direction they're going with him. A sharpe type.

Palmer blocks well. I wish he could catch. Lamark has much better hands.

Either one of them isn't too far from being a good TE, imo, but I like Lamark's chances much more.

Didnt mean to like this.....I like brown too but c'mon .....Palmer cant catch? what are you basing this on He catches the ball every time it comes his way. Brown is an URFA He looked good for a half -I need a larger sample size

#85 Skidmark Brown ????????????

Are you freaking kidding me????

This guy is a Lazy Azz, aint gots no game, camp body,

and has no natural instincts to jump 6" in stride to catch a freaking ball.

This is exactly the 1/2 azz attitude that has plagued our team for too long.

And if you think 6'3" 220-230 is big enough to play TE in the NFL

along with the lack of being a ball hawk, then you are sadly wrong.

Maybe Arena League,,,but thats it.

The CFL wont touch him either.

Camp Body = One and Done

He ran a 4.48 at 228 lbs. at his pro-day. Seems to me like he's got more than enough speed to play WR, especially considering that he's about 15 lbs. heavier than most taller receivers.

He's never going to play as a traditional TE for us, but he could be a nice receiver on the inside.

I like what I have seen from Brown. The move TE is more in now days anyway. Sure if you can get a guy like Graham or Gronk that are a size mismatch and can run as well, it makes them more dangerouse. I don't think I hardly ever see those guys on the end of the line blocking down on a DE or OLB and holding the point.

I don't pay that much attention to those guys, only see them on highlights or when they play the Falcons, but I see them standing up a lot and going in motion. I think Brown is a keeper. Gonzalez, Brown and Palmer. Brown is athletic he is just no Julio.

Gronk is a pretty good blocker, but he's also in a pass-happy offense. Graham is basically just a huge WR though. I kinda' think Brown is in that same boat.

to be honest, I'm not impressed with any of the #5 WR candidates, so having Brown play a #5 WR/#4 TE/ST guy role wouldn't be all that bad if it makes more sense to keep Coffman than Cone or Davis.

I'm not either. I could see Brown being a Finneran type wr in 4 wr sets. Definitely could see a h-back role and as a TE in certain situations. He seems like a competent STeamer as well. I'd much rather keep hI'm as 5th wr.

But I was looking at last years roster and we had 3 TEs and 6 wrs. But one receiver was Weems our return specialist.

I'd like to keep Gonzo, Palmer andCoffman as TEs. I can see Coffman turning out good. Go 5 WR and carry an extra OLine , DLine or DB all areas that depth is crucial

I think you're making Brown smaller than he is. He was 228 in the beginning of camp. He has been lifting weights and working with NFL coaches so he might be near or over 240 right now. Brown can be a great player if utilized correctly.

I don't think he has gained 12 lbs in 4 weeks of camp. That would be very surprising or concerning depending on what kinnof weight he gained.

First off the dude is not 220lbs and hasn't been since who knows when. At his Pro Day (probably lightest he has been) he was 228lbs. During our TC on the player card it had him listed at 230lbs I THINK. Could be wrong about that one. And even that was several weeks ago.

He has been the guy I have watched over the offseason and as i've said for weeks, this guy AT LEAST needs to be our #5 WR over the other guys. Its obvious to me that he is a much more polished WR than any of the other guys we have out there. I honestly would rather have him as a 5th WR and keep Coffman as our 3rd TE just because of the possible matchup problems he can bring (even thouh i imagine its extremely rare that we use our #3 TE).

What I don't understand is the reason why he was moved to TE in the first place? During his proday he was 228lbs which is not too heavy for a WR at all. Was our coaches THAT impressed by his blocking skills or something? Or was it because they want his versatility because he played RB at KSU? In that last pre season game against the Bengals he lined up more at WR and in the backfield than he did at TE.

Its easy to get impressed with a guy like him, but i'm not convinced that even if he makes this team, that he will have an immediate impact. There just simply is not alot of balls to go around. I imagine if he goes to the PS he will be scooped up very quickly.

Just for comparison purposes he reminds me of Marques Colston. Now for the people going to jump the gun saying " OMG ARE YOU COMPARING BROWN TO COLSTON "? No I am saying he plays like Colston does as far as looks not production. They have a very similar style of running and have very similar size in general.
