I can post stats when Keith Brooking was good. Do you want him now?

Ruud was a stat machine for one reason in TB, everyone else around him sucked. He was the only average LB, Tampa didn't have any DTs worth a crap and guess who got every tackle that came up the middle? Rudd.

He was awful last year with the Titans before the injury and McCarthy was pushing him for the job when he got hurt, only reason he won it in the first place was because the FO didn't want to look like idiots after signing Ruud to pricey contract that he wasn't worth in the first place.

Now let's compare him to Curtis Lofton

2008 - 94 tackles, 67 solo, 27 assists, 1 sack, 3 passes defended, 0 interceptions

2009 - 133 tackles, 105 solo, 28 assists, 0 sacks, 2 passes defended, 0 interceptions

2010 - 118 tackles, 93 solo, 25 assists, 2 sacks, 3 passes defended, 1 interception

2011 - 147 tackles, 87 solo, 60 assists, 1 sack, 7 passes defended, 2 interceptions

Now which guy would you rather have? I'd rather have Ruud.

His best year was in 2009.... 2010 was another good year..... 2011 he was injured in the middle of another good season......

Quit applying your Lofa Tatupu knowledge to every LB coming off an injury.

This is the second year in a row this dude has lost his job to a rookie. Either this guy aint got nothing left or he has some really bad luck.

Yep. He was on pace to have another year very similar to 2010 and 2011 but then got hurt and only played in 9 games.

Rudd may better than any options the Saints have but it's not like he's an all pro.

To quote ESPN hes good but not spectacular. If the Saints made this move then they must be really hurting at linebacker.

Finally someone that looks like they know what they're talking about.

I guess the same argument could be made for Keith Brooking right? Or just about anyone for that matter.

Actually he was on pace for 99 tackles and was fighting with Colin McCarthy every week for his job. He lost out to another rookie in Bobby Wagner in Seattle.

Wagner was a high second round pick. Not as if some shmuck rook came out of nowhere.

Keith Brooking had Rod Coleman, John Babineaux, Michael Boley, Jessie Tuggle, at one point in his career.

All Ruud had at TB was Derrick Brooks' at the very end of Brooks' career.

Yes, but it also indicates that Ruud is pretty much done that Seattle thought he wasn't worth keeping around as a backup if they could get a late round conditional pick for him.

Well either way by the time we play the Saints Lofton should be back unless it's a serious injury.

What I found interesting was they were talking about Lofton moving to the outside. Lofton is not an outside LB so it would be interesting to see him there.

I couldn't imagine him on the outside.

Not at the same time. Tuggle retired after the 1999 year and Coleman didn't get to the Falcons until 2004 and Babineaux and Boley followed them.

Seatle isn't exactly strong at LBer.

You're talking about Seattle? Who knows why they do half of what they do. They give away linebackers at will. Lofa Tutupa, LeRoy Hill, Aaron Curry, ect. This is nothing knew with them giving away a solid linebacker.
