Rico Council - 6'1", 255lbs, Co-defensive players of the year as a senior at Tenn State. n 2011, he posted a team high 87 tackles (49 solo) with 8.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 1 int, 11 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries.

Pat Schiller - 6'2", 235lbs, Earned second team All Mid-American Conference honors from Phil Steele and was named NIU’s Linebacker of the Year by the coaching staff after leading the team with 115 tackles (42 solo), two sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 2011. In four seasons, Schiller collared 239 tackles (91 solo), three sacks, 19 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, seven passes defensed and one interception.

Jerrell Harris - 6'3", 242lbs, Started at strong side linebacker for the National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide and recorded 22 tackles (12 solo) with 2.5 tackles for loss. In 2010, he started at both strong and weak side linebacker and finished with 24 tackles. Harris also played in six games for the Crimson Tide on special teams and as a backup linebacker during their BCS National Championship season in 2009.

To be honest I like all three. Maybe we sign one to the 53, and put the other two on the PS. All three has the size and appear to have the agility and strength you look for. Schiller looks to have the edge so far though. Thoughts?

What kind of LB only records 12 solo tackles in a year? Am I missing something?

one who played on the same team as courtney upshaw and donta hightower...as well as dre kirkpatrick, mark barron, josh chapman, and dequan menzie

3 of those players were taken in the 1st round, another was the 35th pick overall..and the other two were taken in the 5th round

not to mention players like nico johnson, dee milliner, and robert lester who will be 1st rounders in the next 2 drafts as well as c.j. moseley who will also play pro ball

the guy was in good company to say the least

Not a good excuse lol. No LB should have that few tackles unless he is constantly rushing the passer.

he is a hidden talent...the guy got overshadowed his entire career by ridiculously good players, some games he didn't get much action at all...his best game was the national championship game in which he had 5 tackles 2 assists with 1 tackle for a loss...the kid can play

Hmm Adkins, Dent, James come to mind

if you are down the depth charts and do not get much playing time you get few tackles --- I think that is what he was trying to convey--- Harris was down the depth charts behind several very good LBs at Bama.

TO OP

Why did you leave Max Gruder Pitt off your list???

Notched a team-high 116 tackles (58 solo) with 8.5 tackles for loss, three passes defensed and one half sack in his senior season at Pittsburgh. A versatile linebacker, he played a starting role at both weak side and middle linebacker in 2010 and was the team’s starting weak side backer in 2009. Gruder also earned Big East All-Academic honors twice during his career.
