A Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA find Osama Bin Laden has been jailed for at least 30 years, officials say.

Shakil Afridi was charged with treason and tried under the tribal justice system for running a fake vaccination programme to gather information.

I'm really more concerned about that huge mutant parasite baby sucking on the side of his face.

That seems like punishment enough.

What are your thoughts on this Julian. I ask this with all sincerity.

Seems fair enough.

You cant allow your citizens to overpass your government, and work with foreign ones inside your nation without your permission. This life sentence(he wont survive 30 years in a pakistani jail at his age or with what he did) basically serves as a warning to anyone else thinking of working with foreign governments above their own.

America would do the same if an American citizen gave Cuban soldiers the location of Luis Posada Carriles, and it led to him being assassinated in Florida.

I think that is why the US will put pressure on Pakistan to release Afridi by either threatening to cut aid or by increasing aid to India. The US already has a reputation for leaving collaborators high and dry and this would only further discourage future potential enlistees from assisting the US.

Any threat to cutoff aid would be an empty threat

US is pretty much stuck with who it took to prom(Pakistan over India), and now has to pander to them because they let them get Nukes.

US stops the aid, and they literally will use whatever means(weapon technology to AQ/Taliban/Al-Shabaab...ect) to make sure they get it elsewhere.

Interesting analogy.

He was convicted by a local tribunal, the Pakastani equivalent of Boss Hogg. The conviction will never be upheld in the Pakastani National court system. No reason to worry over inbred justice.

That is reliant on the idea of the national Pakistan government being able to control all the courts in their nation. Without weapons I dont think the Pakistan government can tell anybody what to do in the khyber mountains or even further towards Waziristan.
