Trumaine Johnson

Recommended Posts

The more I think about it, the more I think we will draft this guy. I love his size and hard hitting ability. Would be an awesome pick up IMO.

04/05/12 - The people who suggest that a team likes guys from certain colleges probably read too much into coincidental preferences. That said, no one should overlook the visit that Montana cornerback Trumaine Johnson made to Atlanta recently. The Falcons have had some success with Montana players in recent years but, far more important, like Johnson and his size. - Len Pasquarelli, The Sports Xchange

I wouldn't complain if they got him. He is very flexible when it comes to where he can play in the secondary, he is an excellent athlete, has great size, and an extremely high ceiling. He is too raw to start right away at CB or safety, but thankfully he can still make an instant impact as Nolan's spur safety in his 5 DB packages.

Edit: I meant to say they are Wr's that like to post smaller DB's up, Colston does it all the time. Grimes will be in position & actually make a decent play at the ball, but ultimately Colston's size gets him. Even if they play him at safety, to match up against Graham, & some of the big TE's you now see all over the league.

Why are we sooo focused on a position of not so much of a need like we are in need of a LT, another pass rusher???? We should not go corner with our 2nd round pick, when we could possibly get boykin in the 3rd..Now if trumaine is there in the 3rd round then yea, but his position is not that much of a big need right now..

Surely you don't think we can get a starting left tackle this year who can start immediately at pick number fifty five.

In our base defense William Moore and Thomas DeCoud will be in the box. The only hybrid defense back we have is Dominique Franks to play the center field position. If we take him out of the pure corner rotation where will that leave us? The corner/safety hybrid center fielder who will not be a liability in three and four wideout sets is probably our biggest need, at least that we can realistically address in the draft.

Even a 1st round grade LT would not be likely to start. It is a position where

experience in the NFL would help. We are not handling the tall receivers and

big, fast tight ends very well. We re-signed Abe so tall db is not crazy talk.

PFW Audibles - What the Scouts are Saying:

  • The Montana kid (Trumaine Johnson) is really talented. He might be the best pure talent. He can do whatever you want. He's better than (Ravens first rounder) Jimmy Smith. He could go in the first. It would take big balls(to take him there), but he could.
